This is the worst thing about it. I wish they had to do a final prediction 24 hours before. I know he didn’t pan out, but outside of board fodder, Tracy Howard committing here was a surprise. Made these announcements better. Same with the all star game ones.
This thread is completely schizophrenic. It starts with Dmoney telling us that UM gave its best shot but Cantwell isn’t coming.
By page 8, just a few hours later, people are predicting him to UM.
Not to mention, Cantwell started off as the #1 player in the country in this thread.
And now we all wait until 3:45 pm for the newly minted #10 player in the country.

When recruits used to post "I loved Miami but I had to make a business decision" again and again and again and again, you knew it was all about the Benjamins and that the program had no (bag) game.

I can understand your feelings as the sports has been turned upside down in a span of 3-4 years after 100 years of stability. But the stability itself was unfair to the players, so something had to change. And the NC2A prevented that change because the member institutions and coaches wanted all the money.
So now we have opened Pandora’s box. It is fair for you to be uncomfortable with the current and likely future state of the sport.
BUT, as a UM fan, I hope you understand that the university is playing by the new rules and has since day 1 of the NIL era. And there is no payoff in not doing it. We aren’t winning any fans by refusing to partake in the NIL era rules.
One last thing. Never forget the young tennis players have been making millions of dollars by the time they turned 18, often based on potential. No one cared then and no one does now.
The rankings slide is the ultimate prediction...never fails.

Cantwell is a smart kid. The intelligent move here is take the $2mil from Miami, enjoy the Miami lifestyle for a year or two while sitting out and getting stronger (and smarter, learn some investing skills in the meanwhile) and then transfer to the SEC to experience the playoffs and that culture, go pro after year 3 from Bama or Georgia and be a top 10 pick lock.
