The latest I'm hearing on Jackson Cantwell...

After working the phones the past couple days, I am still getting feedback from the Hecht that Georgia is the favorite. And since that is the best information I have, I'll go with Georgia as my pick right now.

But here's what I'll say: there's a lot of misinformation being put out there. When Cantwell took his unofficial visit to Miami a few weeks ago and sped up his decision timeline, he was all set to pick Miami. I knew that at the time, but there was still info being fed to others that Oregon was the favorite. Am I now being left in the dark? It hasn't really happened before, but if it did, this is the type of recruitment that would merit a total shutdown.

The Canes have invested a ton in Cantwell and Keenyi Pepe, and if they go 0-2 it would be a major loss. They haven't won that type of OT battle since 2023 with Francis Mauigoa and Samson Okunlola. Those are battles you want to win, because those elite tackle prospects often end up as high NFL picks. There is a good hit rate at that position.

Cantwell makes his decision at 3:45 PM EST.

Gaby is basically saying, we know Cantwell is still really, really good, but we have to reserve the top spot for a player at an SEC or Big 10 school.

Credibility out the door for 247 just that quickly. Amazing.

ive been saying the bolded for the better part of ten years.

Which is why i lol when ppl talk about the sec and landing 5 star recruits.

The best example i can give...i promise you Reuben Main would of been around an 88- 89 tops on 247 for the ismple fact s of his measurables as an end....but the mere fact he kept Bama on his final list his ranking just stayed up n rose. Reuben Bain always was going to UM too, so i felt like Mario set that one up on purpose.

The intelligent move here is take the $2mil from Miami, enjoy the Miami lifestyle for a year or two while sitting out and getting stronger (and smarter, learn some investing skills in the meanwhile) and then transfer to the SEC to experience the playoffs and that culture, go pro after year 3 from Bama or Georgia and be a top 10 pick lock.
