I disagree that the staff didn't care. I don't think anyone was happy that Cam didn't play the second half. I also will always believe they thought they could coach Emory through the second half and hang on to a lead. Clearly misguided thinking....

Oh I'm not saying they didn't want to win or try as hard as they could with the kids they were playing.

But the main goal of the game was to get Cam the record and to get Emory playing time/an audition. Those were the main goals. The next goal was to win the game, while accomplishing the goals above.

So I guess "didn't care" is probably wrong....I'll change it to "didn't care about the result as much as they did getting their QBs the playing time they did".

And honestly, it worked out. If we win that game, woo-hoo, we're Pop Tart champs, but not one single kid we potentially miss on in this 2026 class would have come had Mario been showered with Pop Tarts. So who cares? But since Emory completely imploded, it made the portal decision an easy one, and we got Carson Beck, who could (should?) lead us to Charlotte.

We took our Heisman finalist quarterback out of the bowl game at halftime. I don't care about a Pop Tart bowl, obviously neither did our program.

We finished 13th in the final CFP poll before the bracket was set, IIRC.

And I looked at advanced metrics, they don't have the bias of human polls or voters. They all had us well within the Top 15 after championship week.

“Depending on the metric you look at”

For those of us that don't do twitter, can you summarize?
He made his account private. You can’t look at his tweets anymore. Obviously getting a lot of backlash

I’m sorry manny is the worst hc to walk through those doors. I’ve never seen a hc who sucks at something they specialize in at all facets.

He also had a 3 year head start for roster building prior to be a hc and proceeded to leave the worst roster we’ve ever had.
Manny Diaz at least “as the worst head coach to ever walk through those doors” identified evaluate developed a high school prospect and Rousseau into a first round pick

Outside of the position group that makes coaches lose their legs and arms I haven’t seen Mario do that yet here at Miami while riding Manny‘s players often into the sunset

Miami football wasn't mediocre last year. They were one of the ~15 best programs in the country, no matter what metric you looked at (except anything specific to just defense, in that case make sure you're near an eye-wash station).

Mario has been building the program, from 5 wins and a genuinely pathetic product, to a better product but 7 wins (really 8 if you're not the dumbest human on the planet, but that's been beaten to death), to 10 wins and certainly not mediocre.

As far as baseball, I hate that we hired JD and think he has no shot for long-term success here, but I'll be the first to admit making the super regionals has to buy any coach more time. So we'll see what he does this year. Just like we will with Mario.

If the football team goes 8-4 this year, and we lose to FSU or UiF or both, I'll be the first one to ***** and say that's not good enough. But if I lived in a cave and only came out during the months of September to January on Saturday afternoons, I'd say Miami is an ascending football program. It's literally the definition of the word. We're about to start another year, how does it play out?

Again I fully understand the CMC criticism and apparent limitations

But realize that if riding off into the sunset means that in year 3 of CMC tenure there wasn't one Diaz defensive recruit worth a **** on the field. Sure there were some Diaz guys on offense, your point is taken….But "riding Diaz players off into the sunset" is a bit extreme.

Best players on last years team (in order, or at least semi-order)

Ward
Restrepo- Diaz
Martinez
Arroyo- Diaz
Rivers- Diaz
Mauigao-
Barrow-
Bain
Frederique
Horton- Diaz

Am I missing anyone? The two RB are nice backs, George, Horton, Bissainthe, Mesidor, Cooper…I guess those are would be the next 7, 3 of them Diaz guys.

The point being for year 3, that looks about right or maybe slightly in favor of the new coach…But not far off from what you'd expect. Definitely not "riding Diaz players off into the sunset"

I'm just glad that if this doesn't work out we wont get 10 "what about MArio CristoBal" threads this time around.

Under this regime, only the offensive line gets developed, Bains awesome first season was just based off of raw talent until the CORCHin staph took over his sophomore season

And as far as Ward goes I highly doubt they did any developing of his already skill set, they just provided him a better OLine
