The Miami Hurricanes have a nationally ranked top 10 recruiting class.

The Miami Hurricanes have a nationally ranked top 10 recruiting class.

And had the best season they’ve had on the field last year in 20 years.

And have a very talented roster that will be starting camp in 2 weeks.

And have a nationally televised Sunday night game to start the season versus the national runners-up from a season ago.

As always, the fans of this program deserve nothing nice.

I'm not surprised we have come to this point in the tenure. It's put up or shut up time on the field for the staff. Mario said it himself last year after the FSU game that you can see the trajectory of our program vs UF and FSU. Now he has to back it up and improve again. Recruits aren't blind. They saw the on field product was explosive and fun on offense and at times, bailed out by Cam's improvising (he also put us in sticky situations with it too. More good than bad.) They are in the profession of coaching so they need to keep providing results and performances otherwise no one will buy your product moving forward.

Agreed. He ran his mouth and then folded down the stretch.

You don't accept mediocrity for the baseball program, but you accept it with Mario, interesting.

Miami football wasn't mediocre last year. They were one of the ~15 best programs in the country, no matter what metric you looked at (except anything specific to just defense, in that case make sure you're near an eye-wash station).

Mario has been building the program, from 5 wins and a genuinely pathetic product, to a better product but 7 wins (really 8 if you're not the dumbest human on the planet, but that's been beaten to death), to 10 wins and certainly not mediocre.

As far as baseball, I hate that we hired JD and think he has no shot for long-term success here, but I'll be the first to admit making the super regionals has to buy any coach more time. So we'll see what he does this year. Just like we will with Mario.

If the football team goes 8-4 this year, and we lose to FSU or UiF or both, I'll be the first one to ***** and say that's not good enough. But if I lived in a cave and only came out during the months of September to January on Saturday afternoons, I'd say Miami is an ascending football program. It's literally the definition of the word. We're about to start another year, how does it play out?

He won’t do it. Hopefully Miami cans him within the next 2 years. Should have been canned after Ga Tech in 2023.
Lets play this out. You can Mario. Where do you go from there? What coach worth a **** will want to come to a program who just ran out an alumni coach after showing improvement year over year while dealing with an over entitled fan base who thinks we should be on par recruiting with the big dogs because we have the same NIL opportunities. Here is a cold hard fact. We should not be in play for most of the guys we got if you go by the past 20 years track record. Urban Meyer 2.0 is not coming to Coral Gables. Fact is, while he is flawed, Mario overall is a pretty good option for what we can realistically expect to be the coach here.

Flo had an interesting conversation last night on his Sunday YouTube show. He said there is a disconnect currently with the tri-county programs that is in large part attributable to the departure of some guys in either analyst roles or GA roles or other staff this spring. He says he can point to at least 5 guys in particular that left who had deep and established ties to the local schools- their replacements don’t come in with the same kind of relationships. It’s definitely affected a few recruitments.

The question is why? Did Mario fill the spots with guys whose strength was more national
Recruiting or did he simply not find the right people to step into those spots? Or perhaps it’s just a matter of time to get them established.

Seems like a valid point. Apparently Streeter {Footballville} had a show over the weekend also and talked about this issue and some other things locally that are affecting so fla recruiting. Flo said Streeter stopped short of calling people out but he was pretty honest about what he hears/knows.
Wait I was told the hiring of Frank Tucker was going to eliminate all of that

Mario is a more long term options. Urban gets you a ring or two and by year 6 he bails to avoid NCAA haha

Lol

“Win and they will come”

Best season we had in awhile they don’t come pause

Goalpost: “we didn’t make the playoffs that’s why”

5-7 year one good class

Goalpost: “you can sell what your building your a new HC”

All bs
Two games changed the optics .... the Ga Tech "loss" in 2023 and the Syracuse loss in 2024. If Miami had won those two games, finishing 8-4 and 11-1 regular season, playing in the ACC Championship and the CFP in 2024, the conversations everywhere would have a different tone.

We finished the season ranked #18

it was Syracuse which by the way is also a game where Isaiah horton missed/dropped the game winning catch but he gets a pass because he transferred so now we want him. Ga Tech 2024 was more of an issue. we recruited a great 2024 class.

Rule #1 in recruiting. Never speak in absolutes.

Doesn't matter your source. There are too many variables and by variables I mean ****bags connected to kids to ever truly know the outcome of a recruitment. The only thing close enough to call an absolute in recruiting may have been Duke Johnson.

this.

also, we will flip kids. happens every year.

We took our Heisman finalist quarterback out of the bowl game at halftime. I don't care about a Pop Tart bowl, obviously neither did our program.

We finished 13th in the final CFP poll before the bracket was set, IIRC.

And I looked at advanced metrics, they don't have the bias of human polls or voters. They all had us well within the Top 15 after championship week.

I disagree that the staff didn't care. I don't think anyone was happy that Cam didn't play the second half. I also will always believe they thought they could coach Emory through the second half and hang on to a lead. Clearly misguided thinking....
