My point of contention is about the claim that this recruiting class prospect pool is a "down year" for WR, just because 247 or (On3) says so.

I don't agree with that.

What do they base their rankings on?

If that question can be answered then that settles the dispute.

But here's the thing. @DMoney said that the coaches have that perception. He didn't say it's because the coaches read 247/on3.

Then, other posters used 247/on3 as some additional support for the "perception". Even @DMoney says he wants to watch more tape.

The big change from "the old days" is that almost every player now signs in December, not February. You used to be able to watch an entire senior season for late-growing/late-developing players, and then revise your recruiting board in December/January to chase some rising talent. ****, Blobby Bowden and F$U made a whole cottage-industry out of that approach.

Today, we seem to be locking in most of the assessments before the senior season is even played.

Yes, there is plenty of time for some of these WRs to rise in the rankings. ****, there could be quite a few good committed players who "become available" this fall when the teams they are committed to have terrible seasons and/or the coaches are fired.

For now, it would suck to not get commits from Keys and/or Russell, though things could change by December. And I'm also fairly certain that you know why we might take "three" WRs from the current Class of 2026.

I’m gonna check Lopez out this weekend on the hardwood!! Imma see how athletic he is up close. A bunch of high school basketball this weekend at celebration point in Gainesville. Calvin will be hopping also. Wish I could wear my canes gear, but I have to wear my Newberry panthers coaching shirt, it’s mandatory for coaches to wear team gear.

At some point the excuses need to stop when it comes to WR recruiting. People are saying well we never get top receivers because we need to start showing that we can develop WR in order to pull those kids. I understand the premise of this argument but the OSU, Bama, and LSU's of the world aren't exactly taking under the radar kids and developing them. Someone on 247 made a post about this and I agree 100% with it. If you bring in elite talent more often, you are going to hit more often. Quick look at OSU, Bama, and LSU's highly drafted guys from recent years and where they were ranked as recruits.

Garrett Wilson - 5 star, #2 overall WR
Jameson Williams - High 4 star, .96 overall, #13 WR
Jaylen Waddle, high 4 star, .97 overall, #5 WR
Jerry Jeudy - 5 star, #3 WR
Devonta Smith - 5 star #3 WR
Henry Ruggs - #1 overall WR, 5 star
Calvin Ridley - 5 star; #2 WR
Amari Cooper - high 4 star, .97 rating, #5 WR
Emeka Ebuka - 5 star, #1 WR
Marvin Harrison - 4 star, .93 rating, #21 WR
Jaxon Smith-Njigba - 5 star, #2 WR
Chris Olave - 3 star, .88 rating
Malik Nabers, 4 star, 94 rating
Brian Thomas Jr, 4 star, .95 rating, #9 WR
Jamar Chase - 5 star, #4 WR
Justin Jefferson - 3 star
Odell Beckham - 4 star, .95 rating, #10 WR
Jarvis Landry - 5 star, #2 WR
Jeremiah Smith - 5 star, #1 player

Outside of Olave and Jettas, it's all mid-high tier 4 and 5* guys. Bottom line is, "over pay" if you have to for one of these kids to get them in the boat. Once you get one in and they show out, it becomes significantly easier to recruit them moving forward. We just need to get one to get this thing started. Jojo and Carr were both nice pickups and we hopefully see those bear fruit this season and maybe we talk about them as the catalyst as to why WR want to come and play here again. Keep throwing resources at the issue until it works.

Going to have to be willing to pay the suck taxes (overpay) on a few elite WRs until we get a couple highly drafted. Just like we paid it in the portal with QBs and its starting to change our perception quickly.

Can't speak to prior years. This year is going to be unusual due to the timing of the House settlement. A lot of collectives are spending all their reserves to get guys signed to old-fashioned NIL deals before the rules change.
What rule change on NIL? There is no such thing because that would be illegal. So we’re going to be able to sign kids based purely off NIL no different today as in tomorrow.

We’re not whiffing on defensive tackle, on3 has Johnson is the number one defensive tackle on their board and I believe we get him. So please explain to me how that’s whiffing?
Rest of the class looks good. And as much as we are bagging on WR recruiting it’s not like we are devoid of talent since Beard got here. Malachi Toney and Josh Moore I think both are very very good. I like the kid from Alabama as well.

5 star OOS types aren’t always the answer either. I’d have given my first born for Jurrion ****ey and he’s got like 2 catches for 14 yards in his career so far.

Just think we gotta step it up at the position

@DMoney I get the staff has to play the long game with some of the kids, just have PTSD from last year with some of the kids that they tried to sway throughout the recruiting process that ultimately went in favor of other programs.

Dallas Wilson
Jarquez Carter
Elijah Griffin
TJ Alford
Ben Hanks
DJ Pickett

Wasn’t all negative with the additions of…

Josh Moore
Kellen Wiley
Hayden Lowe
Malachi Toney

What’s the point of putting all that crap under Toney? He signed here and is on the team. What does it matter how he got here? All that is, is pushing a narrative.

Wear some UM stuff under. Then, when the game is over, pull a Brandi Chastain move...

Pause.

Suuuuure. You know everything on this subject.

Wake up. Learn a few things. We can revisit this in a year and you can admit how wrong you were.

I'm wary of the vibe shift the last week or so as well but I haven't lost hope of a top 5 class. Lots of commitment dates set in the next 2-3 weeks that will make it more clear if we're competing for a top 5 class or just trying to hang on to a top 10 class. Until then, I'm hope>mope.

Come out to a tailgate or the north sideline club. I'll scroll my texts. You'll believe.
I'll add this. Last season I was fortunate enough to get a spot at TOC's tailgate at the gaytor game. My group was minding our own away from where the main action was happening, so I do not know who was where the action was. All I know is that they know folks. I say that because Ed Orgeron thought enough about them to come hang out for a bit. He was even kind enough to take pictures with our kids. Also seen at that tailgate was D$. With seeing that, whatever TOC shares on here, I'm sure he has some solid info.

Really, because last I checked NIL is part of the law and anything that goes against that will get destroyed in court because it’s against the law. So, since you know everything why don’t you try to educate me on that? Please explain to me how they are going to break the law and won’t get challenged in court? I would love to hear your answer on this?

I’m not co-signing 247 because I haven’t seen enough national prospects this year to give a fair opinion. I’m just saying this perception of the WR class goes beyond Miami’s staff.

Of the guys I’ve watched in depth, Keys looks like a real five star to me. Calvin Russell is more in the JoJo Trader category- can be really good if he puts on weight and strength. I actually liked JoJo more coming out. He was smoother and more refined.
Feaster is the truth.

Pointing out example of a positive outcome with coaching staff having to play the long game with a recruit. Happens to be factual narrative that was in line with the context of my post.

You are the one pushing a narrative outside that context…

Yeah, but it’s nothing but a narrative now because the guys a Cane and that’s all that matters. Give me a break with anything else because it doesn’t matter. Smh

There hasn’t been a vibe shift honestly

It’s like the “wow” thread. It’s basically been said that we were gonna land an elite class but it’s recruitments playing out over the rest of summer

People didn’t really let that part sink in and when we weren’t getting immediate commitments from everyone they started to panic and spread it around

The only vibe shift is from fans that can’t handle waiting a month or two. Same people that still freak out during OV weekends when we don’t get commitments
