I think it's time all these guys see more PT:

- Arroyo, as noted.
- Porter: sure, he got Moss'd. It happens. He was there and turned around. On a pass play some time before, he was sticky.
- Wesley and Chase. More and more snaps as the season goes on. Neither Steed nor Flagg did anything wrong necessarily. It's just a matter of what these younger kids are capable of doing.
- Gotta try something at Edge. Not sure if Kelly is ready, but something has to give. We need more upfield pressure.
- If AWilliams is really quitting the team, I'd like to see more of Balom some time soon.
Arroyo played a TON. We were in two tight alot and dude was always int he game...he just didnt get the ball much in passing situations...he and Mammarelli actually played alot and Cooper as the blocking TE..
-Nyjalik Kelly played a good bit toay too...We subbed so many guy sand group on the dl and thats with Mesidor out.
-BALOM been my guy so i dont even care honestly...and we even forget about guys like Washington and Dunson played safety some last year.

This offense is exactly what I was afraid of when we brought in Cristobal--uncreated, safe, lacking a vertical element or creativeness. Bringing in Gattis did not ease my concerns. Michigan fans didn't give a **** when he left. I've heard the "speed in space" bullsh't before with Enos. Never materialized. Also, this secret playbook that we seem to hope for with every OC after a slow start never comes. This is who we are now on offense. Bro style, run-heavy scheme that doesn't threaten defenses.

On defense, very disappointed in what I've seen from Steele. I seem to recall him having beastly defenses at Auburn. Then I take a step back and realize he had war daddies on the DL that did all the work for him--Derrick Brown, Marlon Davidson, Big Kat Bryan. Without game changers up front his defense is not impressive. Where's the creativity, the manufactured pressure?

Addae's secondary has also been a disappointment. I can't believe Ivey is still playing playing. I guess Addae hasn't been here for 3 years of garbage Ivey tape. Ivey must look like Richard Sherman during practice to keep snaking playing time.

Well said. More worried about Gattis than Steele

Fantastic analysis, @LuCane! Agree with you 100%. Let’s hope that it’s just growing pains from a totally new system on both offense and defense.

The silver lining in all of this is that even though TVD didn’t play even close to his best, he still at one point completed 8 straight passes, and threw for close to 300. If Gattis can find a way to incorporate more big chunk passing plays into the scheme, and TVD can get more comfortable and play to his ceiling, we might be cooking with oil.

Excited to see us against aTm. They (aTm) will be ready to play next Saturday. Saturday Night game on E$PN, in an extremely hostile environment, facing a wounded dog, might be our toughest test this year.

I’m not expecting us to win, but I am expecting us to fight for everything, and to at least make it a close game. This game will tell us a lot about this team and our coaching staff.

Don’t care that we played two cupcakes. A ton of red flags exist. And spare me with the “the playbook is vanilla and not opened yet” bull****.

-TVD has regressed
-DBs outside of 24 are buns. What was Stevenson doing?
-defensive alignment pre snap is trash
-Gattis won’t last long here with this midwestern type offense
This about sums it up for me, except I like a lot of what Gattis has shown. The biggest issue is not running ANY tempo until it was almost halftime (and look what happened? marched downfield with ease), it was slow as dirt. Too conservative.

I’m hoping and praying that’s just because of the opponent. We’re going to find out for sure against A&M.

It’s no surprise Ivey looks good vs our WR’s in practice bc we don’t have any burners on the outside. He’s probably going up against Redding who looks like he has Timbs on when he runs. I don’t care what anyone says, I hate this Gattis offense.

it appeared on first watch (and has for quite some time) that if TVD is throwing over the middle he has a hard time getting his feet set as compared to an outside the hash throw. I also saw multiple instances where he stared down the single read for what felt like 20 seconds.

Not sure if he doesn’t fully get or like this offense or what, but his NFL stock will drop like a rock in this offense if he’s not careful. He was pretty mediocre at times last year if you remove the shot plays and now we’re seeing that in action. Something has got to change moving forward

I dont disagree with you but it's time someone else gets his PT.
In THIS O, yes. In an O that spreads the field and gets vertical, no. I'd take a vertical game with Mallory over this 3 yards and a cloud of dust junk that requires your TE to be a converted OL to excel.

You can play a ton and still be underutilized. I’m aware he was on the field a lot. Perhaps I shouldn't have listed him under the "PT" - I can see how I made that confusing. I maintain he needs some of the opportunities Mallory was given, as I said in the OP.

I have no idea if that is the case. But it was obvious, and the commentators even mentioned it, we were conservative in our play calling.
I'm just trying to be hopeful we still have a lot to show.
this may be the offense. conservative which is par the course for what some were afraid of. I hope not though bc well be losing 4-5 games this way on offense this way imo. its too slow esp if you fall behind by more than one score and we dont have a UGA type defense

Credit to the announcers for seeing that too. Looked like TVD threw it where it needed to be but Mallory ran a sloppy route.
I thought tvd had some really good throws. There was one to Redding when we were down that was an NFL throw. The announcers said it was behind Redding, but watching it closely tvd placed it perfectly out of reach of the linebacker.

Mallory was just running and never got his head around in his rouyte. TVD through it to the spot..almost throwing him more open to catch and run. He needed to snap his head around quicker in the route.
Hoping after our bye week Arroyo takes that starting spot

this is the unfortunate truth

we do not look sharp

I see there a quite a few people that are down on Gattis. I will definitely agree with those fans. He needs to open up the playbook and do whatever we need to win this Saturday. This not only a must win but if we lose we drop out of the top 25 and become a laughing joke again. Do not kick to their dangerous kick returner, have someone eye ball the young QB, and watch for the bombs.

I made a comment preseason, that we were gonna have a “Choking” D with all the additions we were making. I take that back, choke it up to offseason exuberance on my part. Humble pie 🥧 ordered.

Drawing conclusions after 2 games? I swear, this fanbase.

You can talk about the game performances and I agree that TVD was holding the ball too long. His reads looked slow and was not accurate at times even on completions. I remember a pass to a wide open Restrepo where X dove to catch the ball for a completion and we had to settle for a field goal. If it were a good pass, Restrepo makes a first down and likely scores a TD on the catch and run.

It's just one game out of 2 with a new offense. I don't think anyone should draw conclusions this early in the season. We'll learn a lot more this coming weekend and there's plenty of time for the team to keep improving before conference play.

i agree with you as well. I just was responding to that in regards to PT...Because dude was ont he field a sh*t ton..they had Arroyo at FB a few times even and dude was blocking. Mammarelli did solidly blocking as well....

Throw my man Arroyo more than his typical 2 1-2 targets a game.

100% they held it back. Expect us to throw the kitchen sink at aTm.
