Please explain the UF angle. I’ve been waiting all off season to understand this UF slurpfest..
Not slurping. Just trying to be objective.

A healthy Lagway is a special arm talent. They have two very good RBs. At WR they have Eugene and Dallas Wilson has had a very good camp. They have the most starts across the OL in the country.

On defense they have banks and sapp on the OL. I think they are weak in the secondary. It’s a good team, hate to say it, but it’s a good team. They May not go 10-2 bc they have a tough schedule. But it’s going to be a tough game and we should treat it as such. Not going to be last year’s game 1,team.

Lagway is talented. But he has been hurt. A LOT. And you have to practice with your WRs to develop harmony. Lagway lost his two best WRs to the draft last year, and they are (essentially) being replace by a transfer (Sturdivant) and some true freshmen. AT SOME POINT, Lagway needs to throw to actual human beings.

RBs, sure. Whatever.

WRs, Eugene was used HORRIBLY in the past. If Slingblade Billy wants to keep using him in bubble screens, I don't care. And I'll believe Dallas Wilson when I see him on the field. "Most OL starts"? Wasn't that the big brag coming out of Talla-*******-hassee last year? Yep, same OL that got TWO quarterbacks hurt last year and forced a walk-on transfer from the Ivy League to start.

I'm not even going to get into the defense. Terrible in the first half of the year in 2024. Magically got better in the second half. Almost all of the defensive coaches left. We'll see.

Jojo is clearly hurt and RayRay isn’t good. When we start hearing about true freshman like this at a position we should all know what that means.

WR is going to be very interesting this year. Going to be run heavy and use TE’s and let Beck dunk and dunk it down the field. If the defense improves…that could make this team a 10 game winner and get to Charlotte. We will see.

Yea not the best sign when we’re talking about the full true freshman class.

How many teams in the CFP had a “alpha” at WR (exclude Ohio state for the obvious)?

The need for an Elite alpha WR1 is a bit overblown IMO. Having a collection of good and reliable pass catchers is more important.
1000%. Penn State made the Final Four and almost the Championship with a G5 WR room. We have enough to win.

Also, all y’all that are being little ******* about UF need to come join us in the Gator Tears thread. They are a very mediocre team with unbalanced strengths, many weaknesses, and a QB that can barely walk or throw.

I am even more confident about this game that I was about last year’s game, and I was pretty confident we wouldn’t have an issue winning last year. True story.
