Only silver lining is our receivers last year aren’t supremely talented either. Sure we lost production. We didn’t lose one single draft pick. Dawson’s system should have people running open. Just make the routine plays
I still can’t get over how disappointing Brown was. Dude’s effort here was pathetic. I thought he would be our number 2 behind Restrepo.

I listened to the Cover 3 ACC Win totals show yesterday, and yes of course I'm sure everyone will say this is irrelevant because Bud Elliott is a hater and hates us and thinks we're going 0-12 blah blah blah....but he had a very good point when going over his concerns for the team.

He said he speaks to multiple people at Miami, and when he asks about WR, almost all of them give him a different answer. His analogy was, when you don't have one "alpha", sometimes, you have 2019 LSU, where you have multiple absolute dudes. But that is VERY much the outlier. Normally, you have a bunch of guys that are just OK, so when you ask "sources" who's the guy, you're going to get multiple answers because nobody is jumping off the page. So that's what concerns him, is we don't have time to find our "alpha", we play ND and UiF in the first month of the season. So, do we have a group that's so good, nobody is really standing out because they're all ballers? Or do we have a somewhat average group and there isn't really anyone standing out because none of them are good enough to warrant that kind of attention?

Interesting perspective and something obviously we'll find out rather quickly. But I do believe it's concerning. I don't think this is going to be 2022 by any stretch of the imagination...even if we don't have 1 or 2 receivers really step up to become a total go-to kid, the QB is good, the line is good, the backs are very good, the offense will be good. Just how good can it be if you don't have kids you can count on in the passing game down after down? We all pretty much agree we're very likely not going to have the #1 offense in the country, and that's fine. You don't have to be #1 to win the ACC, if your defense and special teams are competent. But if we don't really have any elite receivers, at least not early on, does the offense drop enough to where we struggle to beat ND and UiF?

FWIW, 3 of the guys had us at 9-3, and Fornelli said 10-2.

I don’t watch anything, I listen to as much CFB content as I can find. I’m an adult, so I’m capable of listening to opinions and thoughts from any variety of sources and not allowing it to shape my own. You’d be surprised, people other than David Lake can actually make rational thoughts on other programs, too.

It’s a fair point we just need someone to be that Restrepo leader of the room. Between him and Cam there was a demand of success that went through the entire offense

If we are to believe the culture thing then this shouldn’t be an issue (even if we can’t achieve what we did last year stats wise)

This is the type of stuff Mario has been preaching to the world since he got here

Yeah I def don’t think there’s going to be any combination with the same chemistry as Restrepo and ward. This may get negged away, but I am rather thrilled to not have to hold my breath for a George back breaking 15 yard penalty. I have been ready to see someone else out there. Guy was a loose cannon

George is a good example of why we should be optimistic. Pretty much a 3 star guy with nothing special about him yet he put up a lot of yards here under two very different QBs

To your point the Traders, Robinson, Carr etc these are guys on paper that were significantly higher ranked so someone should step up

This is cope man i can’t believe not even a full year later we are already downplaying our wrs from last year

This isn't true at all. I may personally curate it for strategic reasons, but the staff never talks to me about what I post or say.
If both the coaches and press are pros you don't need to be explicit.

Very true, I think just his point was more, nobody is separating yet. Obviously it's early, but I'm sure some/most of this is from the summer anyway. In a perfect world, the narrative would be, "Miami lost their top 6 pass-catchers, but the room can pick up the slack because Player X looks like a budding superstar, and Player Y should be able to replicate what they lost in (blank)"

His point was, when he asks, one guy says Trader looks good, the next guy says Toney looks good, the next guy, etc.

Yeah, there's a chance all these kids are elite and nobody is pulling away because they're all so good. But that's certainly not a heavy favorite. Most likely, it's because they're all pretty much the same and nobody is standing out as elite.
We will know soon enough. I tend to believe in this group and they are going against **** good competition in practice.

Lots of spiraling here this morning. Y’all boys had coffee yet?
Seriously…

What’s with the phobia of UF on here?? If we don’t dog walk those losers again after doing so in their house last year (week 1 mind you) with a deeper, more physical team.. then we’ve got bigger problems.

I still have no idea what people here or nationally see in that squad. I expect another thumping..especially since LSU takes their soul a week prior.

Lagway isnt near Beck’s level and is overhyped as ****… what exactly did they add that strikes fear in anyone?

CIS in full form early in camp.. Go to church if you’re scared!

Yep.. and as great as Cam and Restrepo were/are… they both had major ****ups against GT and Cuse that derailed the season.

By all accounts, the current team is deeper and more talented - which hopefully helps us overcome any hiccups our best players may make (because we’re beating teams up so bad it won’t be close enough to effect outcomes of games).
