This season has pretty much broke me. I won't believe a single positive thing until it actually happens. No more Greentree reports, verbal commitments, "big changes coming". I've listened and believed for decades now and not one word of it has came to fruition. As the saying goes, fool me once........or in this case 100,000 times

I really wanted to believe 8-4, 9-3 because of the schedule. Losses to Clemson, A&M and a UNC or Pitt like loss but yea it’s the same bull**** different year. Never really believed the insider reports from Greentree and all the silent commit crap. I’ll believe it when I see it.

I want to say this feels like the Butch years, because that’s always been my comparison. But that would be a lie. This feels like watching Virginia beat Miami 48-0 in the last game of the OB. Fifteen years later almost to the day and we still suck. It’s a numb feeling.

That 2007 team played horrible every week. We played it off by talking about the roster purge and the incoming recruiting class. That team had a bad OC and a staff of excellent individual coaches who didn’t click. And that team had a head coach who ultimately failed.

I have more faith in Cristobal than Shannon, but it’s becoming less rational by the day. This team has played bad in every single game. It’s November. Four straight home losses to kill the fanbase, and three of them are among the worst losses in program history.

The only difference between this team and 2007 is that the 2022 team has better players and more money. Florida State isn’t even a dominant opponent. They will finish with four to five losses. Two years ago, we beat them like they beat us. The difference is we have gotten worse in every aspect.

Better players will help. A new offense will help. Tennessee somehow came back after bottoming out for two decades. But any hope is based on nothing we’ve seen on the field. And that is a painful, familiar feeling.
Without looking at the schedule for that 07 team, did that team have 3 losses as bad as that MTSU, Duke and tonight’s loss? TAMU likely isn’t going to become bowl eligible and that is looking like one of our best showings.

My indifference with this program is at an all-time low.

This might be the worse Miami team I have ever seen (been watching games since the EJ Baker days).

I don’t know what‘s wrong. But, I do know that…

Talent matters.
Execution matters.
Coaching matters.
Scheme matters.

We lack all of the above.

How do we fix it?

No clue, but Mario ain’t going anywhere so let’s hope he lands quality assistants this off-season and a few more studs in the Portal. Blind hope is all we have left at this point.
EJ Baker was the QB in my freshman year. We went to Columbus and played the *s tough in a 10-0 loss.

I have been a passionate fan for the 45 (!) years since then. The last 20 years have been tough, with ****** and ****tier coaches, but losses always hurt and wins always felt good.

This year, this week? I don’t care.

I'll say this: any OC he wants to hire is going to be able to demand whatever they want. They'll be risking their career to come here after watching Mario take the Broyles award winner and turn him into one of the worst OCs in the country before firing him as well as taking a preseason Heisman and first round candidate QB and making him unwatchable.

Mario is on thin ice with his offensive reputation.

It’s real, but I’m not sure what people expect him to say in a press conference to the media. He’s not going to throw him under the bus — that’s a bad look and would make it hard to attract future coaches.

Diaz was the same way with Enos. He didn’t torch him in post-game press conferences.
People are emotional. Gattis is done, there's no way he comes back, because Mario knows that having that dude on staff is cancer. Honestly, I would be shocked if any of the offensive staff outside of Mirabal returns. Mario is likely to give whomever is next full autonomy, and let them build their staff. Too many good OCs out there for Mario to tolerate this kind of crap. Frankly, Gattis is coaching like he knows he is fired, a lot of his decisions feel like middle fingers to Mario and everyone involved.

We’ve done significantly less with more than in 2007. We’ve made mediocre players look like they shouldn’t play in D1. In 2007, we had a 240 pound DE playing DT. Ironically, we had an OC who played inside of a small box, too. It’s wild how things stay the same.

That 2007 team would beat this team easily. We haven’t scored a TD in like 9 quarters and 2 OT periods.

When you hire a head coach who is an Xs and Os guy you see quick improvement. That’s what hiring lane would have brought you. When you hire a recruiter you have to give them time to recruit. No one ever for a second believed Mario was going to out coach anyone.

It’s as simple as that.
