I agree with you, however I don’t see Ruiz and gang spending all the money if they had done a legit search.

Just my opinion of course.

If they were willing to spend , do improvements etc for a coaching search, then we should have went that route.
Well that’s a problem in itself, hypothetically of course.

Blind faith is not fandom. And that’s what you all are victims of. You hired a better coach this time around for sure. But you used the same approach to find him. There was never another interview. Google the definition of insanity. Too soon to say Mario will never work. But I know for a FACT there are much better coaches we could have had for cheaper. We just keep doing the same thing over and over to ourselves
Mario can work here, just let him do recruiting and nothing else.

You cannot lump hiring Mario in with the same process of hiring Manny. That's f***ing ridiculous.

Keeping Manny was the alternative option.

I take the eight million although its a massive overpay as we speak
Keeping manny wasn’t the alternative. Manny was gone regardless.

I've been a believer in Mario.

It does feel irrational and hopeless now.

Unless he hires a brand new (modern) OC who also brings in at least 2-3 of his own coaches and gets to do GameDay management, then Mario is just prolonging the inevitable.

I'm not sure this season could have gone worse.
Glad we didn’t schedule FIU

Okay, let me rephrase that:

We wouldn't have done jack **** if we didn't hire Mario. Mario was the guy and if he didn't come, the money wouldn't have been spent imo

I mean cool. Shows you just how unserious Miami is as a program if that’s true

You are assuming that. It is also entirely possible that he was sold a false bill of goods from Gattis and thought he'd be far more competent than what we've seen.
This^. And I will add that I think they overestimated the progress the current roster would make in his system. I know he spoke pretty positively about the team in general embracing the new challenges. I think more of them reached their ceiling in mental and physical fortitude than they expected. Remember these kids had pretty free rein to do what they wanted under Manny. Most of that free time dried up under Mario. They just couldn’t handle it. Add the extra physicality in practice and the result is what you see: A bunch of burned out guys who are throwing in the towel.

Maybe. But think about the source of all these new funds: people with connections in somE way to Cristobal. Without the money, there’s no change. The school was not investing $100 million in salary from their petty cash.

I’d be willing to bet Mario fires Gattis and hires a power-spread guy. Who? I have no idea.

But I think he recognizes how embarrassing this offense is, and I’m sure he’s looking around the college football landscape and evaluating candidates as we speak.

It’s too late to reverse the past, but I think he’s going to do his best to get this program right. It all starts with the offense. We need an innovative system that takes advantage of pace and space. There are a plethora of guys we could turn to that will check those boxes. I’m sure we’ll see the transition before early signing day.

What say you @Cribby, @DMoney, @SouthParkCane ?

What legit OC is going to want to come coach under ultra conservative let’s just run the ball caveman Mario ?

There were several game where we barely ran the ball at all. Gattis' passing system just sucks ***.

I understand it and I’m upset at it. It’s just rather unfortunate it was him or nothing is all

I’ve been coming off as pretty negative the last few weeks but that’s just this years frustrations. I guarantee Mario Cristobal will not have a team that looks like this next year. That’s about all I can say

Just tell us Gattis is gone lol

Why would Mario not coming change Ruiz and the money people spending ? That makes no sense. Mario was just at the top of their list, like he was at other schools.
Well I understand the thinking. I get why it’s being said

People are emotional. Gattis is done, there's no way he comes back, because Mario knows that having that dude on staff is cancer. Honestly, I would be shocked if any of the offensive staff outside of Mirabal returns. Mario is likely to give whomever is next full autonomy, and let them build their staff. Too many good OCs out there for Mario to tolerate this kind of crap. Frankly, Gattis is coaching like he knows he is fired, a lot of his decisions feel like middle fingers to Mario and everyone involved.
reading his body language before, during and after the game, i can confirm that this is a possibility. there is something eerily off with his demeanor. read my earlier post.
