If you told me before the season we'd have 5 loses by now I wouldn't of been surprised besides the middle Tennessee game because I always said we would have to take 2 steps back to go 10 steps forward under Mario with how he wants to play. BUT...I could of never imagined we'd look this God awful. I mean we just look hopeless

there was a stat shown that mario's oregon teams scored 40 points only 12 times in his tenure, they've done it 8 times already this year after mario
I pray Mario breaks down 2022 Oregon film, and sees the results of what can happen with the combination of his recruiting and a modern offense/OC. I hope it’s a real wake up call.

Rad, Zo, Mario. If they can’t figure this sh¡t out with the resources that have been put in and backing by those that matter than idk how this ever gets figured out.

In a sense I’m glad this year has been a disaster rather than a mediocre one. Mario has to realize he needs to give the reigns to a quality 21st century OC and get back to managing his team.

Curious, can we name one example of a team doing this in all of college football? Elite college program, falls from grace and then trips down a well for almost two decades? Seriously, has any major team ever looked like this repeatedly? Is this just because we continue to get national exposure ( and look like garbage)
Yes. Alabama after Stallings until Saban, Nebraska from 01 to now, Notre Dame from 93 to 2012 other than a year or two, Georgia from the early 80s until Richt, Tennessee.

Now post the 2021 box scores of games like Stanford, Cal, UCLA, UW , Oregon State and of course Utah. I feel that’s more indicative of the sort of teams we’ll see under him in future seasons with better rosters and assistant coaches.

They finished with a point differential of only 4.4 points vs their opponents on the year in 2021. For perspective, Oregon is currently averaging 16.8 now that they have a much better coaching staff that can motivate their players to perform.

Oregon is still mostly made up of Mario players. He get's no credit?

The best thing I can say is that at least the failure has been so spectacular that Mario can't sit back at the end of the season and say, "let's run it back!"
This.

I think it’s why this personnel excuse bothers me so much because it’s just setting up a continuation of what we are seeing now

This team defies logic really. Every week we watch lesser teams win amazing games, pull upsets, punch above their weight class

Doesn’t seem to happen here. Ever.

And even when we were thoroughly outmatched by really good FSU teams, Golden had us on the verge of big upsets a couple of times

College football is cool because any given Saturday you just don’t know what to expect

But with us…that’s just not the case

Georgia Southern, San Jose ST & the Ohio Bobcats have better Offenses than us...

Does anybody who think it’s all just because of our roster wanna be bold enough to make an argument that SAN JOSE STATE & The OHIO BOBCATS have a better roster than Miami?

I mean I’m sure there are, but at what point when that person is typing that do think to themselves, “I’m really sitting here about to try to say San Jose ST has more talent than Miami, wtf am I doing?!?!?..” lol

Especially when you look at what’s happening in Washington & TCU in year one of both those tenure’s for their new HC’s. Neither team had stacked rosters with a bunch of 5-stars or were 10+ win teams within the last 5 years, so it really cuts at the bungee cord of excuses for why a guy as highly touted as Mario couldn’t get it done in year one.

I’m even willing to give him a pass & year one just doesn’t count, none of these guys are his players, okay cool; but what really has happened is that the bar has been lowered so low that literally any wins above .500 will be such an exponential improvement from this season that it will extend the leeway as far out as year 5, year 6 etc of not really having to produce results commensurate to the contract & the hype & that’s where things get lost in the sauce.

What this can’t turn into is the “Wait til next year Olympics” every year...
The old “just wait right here Ima bring you your money back” gag can only work once on people who have just a little bit of street smarts lol
This is my problem. Navarro, Lake, and some other Miami media/podcasters are already starting to lay out the "he needs time to get his guys" narrative. The path is being laid for Mario to keep running this same type of scheme for years on end with the cover of him needing his guys. Instead of holding his feet to the fire and calling him out for what he has produced.

This allows him to go 6-6/7-5 next year and claim improvement. This cycle will go on for years if the media/fans/admin don't pressure him to make changes.

Blind faith is not fandom. And that’s what you all are victims of. You hired a better coach this time around for sure. But you used the same approach to find him. There was never another interview. Google the definition of insanity. Too soon to say Mario will never work. But I know for a FACT there are much better coaches we could have had for cheaper. We just keep doing the same thing over and over to ourselves

I’m afraid your right. I started going to games in ‘84. Tons of great times and memories but that is all they are really dusty faded black and white memories. Mario has been an absolute failure and disaster. For 20 plus years we have had only hope as Canes. They are an embarrassment. For my mental health I’ve started walking away from the TV and just checking the latest lost score. I don’t even listen on my Sony Walkman to JZ and Don B my favorites. Really sucks to be a Canes fan. Utter **** pile.
I became a fan the year before that, when they won their first NC under the late, great Howard Schnellenberger. Schnelly is probably turning over in his grave after seeing what the BoT has done to the program that he so meticulously built.

It seems that with every hire, we get further and further away from our glory days.

This latest abomination of a HC may be the final nail in the coffin for our program. It’s a sad day to be a Canes fan, but life goes on.

The power players that run the U have literally run it into the ground. If Mario has any integrity, he holds a news conference this morning and says that it’s his fault and that he’s making major changes from top to bottom, and hiring a new OC and DC. Then he needs to just evaluate talent, recruit and be a CEO.

I can hope that he changes, but my gut feeling all of this time has been that he’s set in his ways, and not very likely to do what’s right for the program.

We’re not Oregon.

And what people keep overlooking, is that they were not some destitute program that had never won before he got there, they were a premium posh destination for quite some time in the modern era.

Mike Bellotti - 116-55 at Oregon
Chip Kelly - 46-7
Mark Helfrich - 37-16
Mario Cristobal - 35-13

The only Coach who didn’t win at Oregon was Taggart & he was only there for one season...

The narrative that got spun that he built Oregon into some Bama like dynasty was never based in reality.

And what got really swept under the rung was how bad they looked in those Stanford & Utah games from last year.

The key to his success here will be him having a come to Jesus moment when he realizes that HIS way is not the only way & that trying to transform Miami into something we’re not is only going to make his tenure that much harder & that much more frustrating.

LCE this is frustrating.
Why can't we have the recruiting beast and the CEO that will hire the OC and DC that will put us in the best position to win big....at the same time? Lol
It's so frustrating because I don't think we would have the recruiting class we have with any of the other coaches we could have hired...but unless he has that cone to Jesus moment it won't matter.

Your words to God's ear. If he did that I would give him a pass. Alas, he won't. Truly what a disappointment. One after the another.

To me, this feels worse, and I don’t think it’s just me getting caught up in the present

The reason it feels worse is, for my entire fandom here we’ve seen that we don’t really invest in the program. We win despite not getting overwhelming support or budgets.

So when we lose you still can kinda cling to the hope that after enough losing we will eventually see that

Well we got our wish

And yet once again, despite about a billion dollars of investment, this program decided to once again NOT have a legitimate coaching search and threw a **** ton of money at a guy that’s never proved he can build anything

Now that they’ve invested that much, they are not cutting ties anytime soon so the excuses will continue to roll in every day

This off-season will be interesting
