Why would our defense be any worse than last year? Not saying we’re in great shape, but I would already take this defense over last years and we are going to add at least another starter caliber player or two
This defense is better than last year's simply if we aren't dead last in the P5 in tackling. They're not loaded with talent but it's not like they lost a lot from last season so there's not a drop-off in that department.

I fully expect us to be improved in pass coverage and much better at tackling. That should make us a middle of the road defense. Nothing special but good enough to keep us in games, especially if our offense is allowed to play the way they should.

@DMoney Jordan Miller looked good in the spring game and in 1vs1 on stuff on YouTube. Is he just not consistent or they don’t feel comfortable with him. He actually seemed like the only tackle to have a good push and inside move. What’s your take on him.
Bubble wrap that guy til TAMU

Having attended the last scrimmage and the spring game the lack of elite talent is appalling. Outside of TVD, a couple of the TEs, and Avante Williams I don't see any game-changers or early-round NFL picks.
Not you at all, but for comments like this, all I can think for some fans: “Where the **** y’all been?!”

We have been baaaaad.

Yeah, he beat Rivers in the game and did some nice things. He's in the mix and has done a nice job with his weight. Wouldn't want to put all my eggs in that basket, though. The film from last year was average.

Now that you spell it out, I'm a little nervous about how many holes we have. Anybody who thinks 10 wins is the benchmark for this season is overly optimistic. If we're getting to that level, the next few weeks need to be really good.
Its a two game schedule Tex A&M and Clemson. Have to win the other 10. Miami should be favored in those 10 games. Have to stop losing to UNC and the Virginia's ( acc coastal) of the world.

Can anyone link me to the spring game?
I was travel and would like to see the condensed version…
THANKS

I think people are overreacting a little to the WR issue. Sure, the group could use a speedy target. But it's not a bad WR group. Some of the people on this board are making it sound like this is the year we trotted out Khalil Jones and the punter (Brian Monroe) as our top 2 WR's. This group has talent.

They did not have a good spring game, but I still think a group of Restrepo, K Smith, George, Brinson (who was out), B Smith, Ladson, Redding/Worsham (I doubt both will stay), and Horton is a solid rotation. There's likely no superstar in that group, but we have some diverse weapons. I would love to add a speedy vertical WR, but I don't think the situation is as dire as some are making it out to be.

when kid says he's finally taking lifting serious in an interview, that's troubling to me. I want a kid who is an animal the moment he walks on campus.

DT Ahmad Moten should have an immediate impact for us. Anyone know what summer session he arrives?

I hope your not counting on a true freshman DT with 3 months max in a college S & C to hold up against experienced multi year college players. That is highly unlikely and unrealistic expectations for the young man. LT was overmatched most the time last year.

I think we are going to miss Rambo this year. The QBs on Saturday hit the TEs a lot and X was fantastic as usual in the middle of the field but I thought the outside guys were just decent. Is there any chance that Brinson or the freshman WR (Horton) make us feel a lot better about that room without needing to go into the portal?
Eventually if the outside receivers struggle we'll see opposing defenses use that 2020 Clemson/Venables game plan; they'll play heavy press on the outside and either blitz happy up the gut or specifically take away the middle of the field to inhibit the TE's. I think Brinson will help but tough to rely immediately on a freshman like Horton.

We’ve got a QB that can make them all look better that’s for sure

And *gasp running the ball will help a lot

It’s a good group depth wise, just maybe a year or so away for a couple of guys

But I agree in general. We don’t need (I mean that would be nice) Addison from Pitt, but we need someone to fill the Rambo role

I would expect rb by committee because Chaney and Rooster will play, Parrish has the benefit of playing for his RB coach (this is where relationship bias helps a player, he wont let the kid transfer in not to play him) Citizen will expect carries and if it was him I saw at spring game, kid looks ready to tote rock right nowwwww, doubt kid would sit on bench happy while being home sick and portal reality, Thad has been out of shape since last season where he didnt think he had to work hard, he seems to have better attitude and new strength staff but says he is still too heavy, hmmm..

Unless we expecting Boutte or someone comparable, we better use the same columbus ties to reel in Harrell, I understand he has alabama interest and probably hopped in portal because of them on back channels but dam we slow as **** with no explosiveness man, we need that speed this year.. I think rooster at moment will be only guy who scares people from that standpoint, we need a WR to add that element..

All of a suddenly we have depth at CB, gonna be a interesting battle to see who will be the top 3 corners.. Atleast we have good veteran talent in the back 4 because the front seven is a mess..
Nah man Parrish is going to play because he’s put in the work and earned his snaps. No favoritism will be happening on Mario’s staff. There’s a role for him in Gattis’s offense AND he’s proven he can stay healthy. There was a lot of hitting this Spring and we never saw him in a none contact jersey.
