Agreed. Take an undersized kid like Cam Pruitt who ******* decleats people when he hits them. Big difference. Not down on this kid specifically I don’t know enough about him
Bobby ***** plays in my head whenever he hits someone

This is a bit incorrect:

2024:
LB - Hayes (4* #8 LB in the nation)
LB - Pruitt (3* #45 LB in the National)

2025:
LB - Wiley Jr (4* #27 LB in the nation)
LB - Marcelin Jr (3* #56 LB in the nation)

Portal Class:
2024:
-3* Alderman

2025:
-3* Toure
-3* Bonner

Also as I’ve explained many times, there’s levels to blue chips. It’s not just 4*, it’s the quality. To be blunt, the recruiting sites have become more participation trophy vs. true blue chips. Previously, u had to be within the first 330th nationally ranked player to earn a 5* - 4*. That’s no longer the case, & blue chips have been grossly watered down.

Class of 2025 WR:
-Moore (4* #17 WR in the nation)
-Toney (4* #49 WR in the nation)
-Upshaw (4* #68 WR in the nation)

So yes, technically, the latter two are blue chips, but their composite ratings are in the 80’s. Once u have that, it’s basically an old school high 3*. The truest blue chip WRs r:
-JoJo
-Carr
-Moore
-Robinson

@Dza What in Thee Fck r u disagreeing w?

Elite testing numbers, three-down ability to cover or rush, and they feel good about his frame seeing him in person. This is a Heatherman guy and Heatherman highly values verified testing.

Time will tell but they expect him to be a big riser.
Right. Didn’t he just have a top 10 defense without 4/5 star talent. Can we not trust the process?

Won’t really push back here. I agree with the rankings sentiment. My point more was to push back on the “we don’t pay our coach x amount of dollars to flip kids from Rutgers”. Mainly you can’t complain about 1 instance and ignore the countless others (5 stars). Specifically, accumulating more 5 star trench players than almost every other team. Including the number 1 player in the country this cycle.

Does WR recruiting need to be better? Sure, we haven’t hit on an elite guy. But I don’t have much issue with the past two cycles. I’ll hold judgment on this cycle until it’s over. LB, ya it can also be better but we have a blue chip LB committed this cycle. At the time, we thought Hayes was. I personally think Wiley should be in that category (top 300 as you say).

So I generally don’t agree with the OP about “where are the blue chips”. I also feel strongly about belittling a kid within hours of him committing to the team we all cheer for. Maybe that’s just me, but just a qualm I have.

Ivins loves this kid so expect a rankings bump. Wether that is a positive for his evaluation is different

SMU
Years in ACC? 1.
ACCCG appearances? 1.
CFP appearances? 1.
these havent been aging well lately. One year does not indicate a coach is good or will be good, remember Mel Tucker. If Lashlee's success is sustained for 3 or 4 years then we can say he's a good coach. Remember Mario has 2 power 5 conf titles and would have qualified for the playoff multiple times if it was 12 teams. The bar is significantly lower now. Im curious though, how would this board have reacted if we made the playoffs and then got smoked by 4 touchdowns in the first round? Some how I dont think it would have been hailed as some great accomplishment. But again anything to sht on Mario, carry on.

And I just looked at SMU's schedule last year. Mario would have been undefeated or 1 loss at the most and been in the ACC championship game and made the playoffs no doubt with that schedule.

I thought we were done with the 200 pound linebackers

We need more size and length!!!
No. We need LBs that can read/diagnose the play. If they are big, all the better, but not essential.
