Wyche

He was a 2 to play 2 guy. I'm not sure what went into that. Media asked that question about redshirting. That was the answer they were given.

On skates the whole game. Hert hasn't been much better. The few plays Moten was in there it was embarrassing. Pierre flashes from time to time. Maybe the coaches should try one-gapping every once in a while....nah.

DT recruiting and development (thanks Jethro) has been pretty terrible. I have an idea, retain everyone!

I really don't think it's Jethro's fault. He doesn't have the horses who are able or willing to play the position. At some point after 100 games of seeing the same thing you gotta switch things up. That's on AG, not Jethro.

Oh it's year 4 and he still doesn't have the horses, gtk.

Jethro is terrible.

My understand is if he never redshirtted before and only played 2 years of JUCO, then technically he could redshirt.

Not defending jethro one bit, i think he is a waste of space on the coaching staff, BUT i think its more what they are being told to do and the scheme more than the development part, again not defending that ****, in college position coaches are more rceuiters than anything else, its the OC, DC, HC, and we all know jethro cant recruit for sh¡t

Sorry but you're way off base by saying position coaches are more recruiters, especially on the D. Offensive skill personnel spends more time with each other and the OC. But on Defense, unless the DC has a specialty, you spend the majority of your time with your position coach and the DC will pop in and out of drills and positional meetings until "team" practice/film/meetings. That being said, Jethro is just teaching what he's being told to coach. He can't coach splitting double teams, one gapping techniques and is limited on "get off" pass rushing drills because of the scheme. This is all on AG and DnFr.

I'm not making excuses for Jethro but does anyone on that D Line (outside of #9 and Jenkins) flash massive potential regardless of scheme? If so, I don't see it.

Wyche needs this next offseason BAD! Get him a full Weight Training/conditioning cycle with swasey. He is going to increase strength in his legs, which will help him with his get off. Hopefully Jethro can teach him some technique too lol.

Not saying they dont teach sh¡t, they just teach the kids to the scheme, not saying there isnt good positioning coaches in college, just saying most of them are there to recruit

after watching last night. he is garbage. he is big but cant move at all. first step is slow, side step is slow, back step is fast because he gets pushed all the way back. doesnt play low. just everything bad. we need chick to stay in the middle with Jenkins and Hert.

His development and recruiting is ***. The Scheme sucks too, how many more things should be bad?

I didnt watch him specifically but I'm wondering from the tenor of this thread how we had any success. Somebody in the middle of this defense mustve done something right since they couldnt do a whole lot against us.

BOOM! to this. you guys act like we got gashed for 300 rushing yards or something. **** according to this thread, not one DT/NG played well last night but for some reason we were able to hold their running game in check. (insert the "Vtech sucks crowd"..Even though this is the same Vtech team that beat OSU and Palmer/Pollack even alluded to that fact.)

Im not saying im back on the bandwagon..but the Dline played pretty stout if you ask me. Wyche wont be able to really show what hes got until the end of this year/next year. Thats when we can really grade him. Hertolou too. You guys act like every JUCO dlineman is Nick Fairley. **** where is Javon Hooks right now? Lol. Man I swear I watch Ole Miss games just to see if he is getting any burn and we all thought he would singlehandidly save the defense when he was recruited..

Point is that it takes time for these JUCO guys. Especially DT/NGs because they most likely come in out of shape anyway.

Tenor of this thread? Seriously.

Everything is perfect in Caneland. My bad.

A few things:

1. This is not inferred at all in my thread.

2. VT's offense is terrible and their QB may be the worst we face all season. Stop acting like everything is great in the world because we beat VT.

3. No one is saying that everyone is Nick Fairely, how about a solid contributor or is there nowhere in between? If it takes time, then why no REDSHIRT him (if possible)? This only validates the question.

I asked this yesterday but there is no answer. He plays like someone unfamiliar with football. In addition, he is terribly out of shape.

My questions is this, if he has potential but can't contribute anything NOW, why not redshirt him?

He looked like Corey King last night. Should redshirt him!!!

The fact that the ACC prevented him from coming in early hurt him very badly. So, he comes in out of shape and over weight. He lost too much weight too quickly and he's paying for it now. Let's hope an off-season can fix him. It might.

Doesn't answer the question.

We all know he is not prepared and out of shape. If he has potential and can't contribute in 2014, why not redshirt him?

By going the JCo route he did, he does not have enough time left to redshirt...........you have 5 to play 4 and if you waste time elsewhere it still counts. I think that his size has some hoping that next year he will be in the mix.............

Why? He still has 5 years to play 4. My question is did Wyche redshirt at JUCO?

Heurtelou had 2 assisted tackles... Did Chad Thomas play? I don't see his name mentioned anywhere
