Ya know, a lot of people wanted this guy. USC saw him as plug and play also. It wasn't just us. I really believe that extra semester of doing nothing at JUCO may have set him back too far to recover before his eligibility runs out. Apparently UM has to petition the NCAA to let him play next year. I still hope it works out for him, and us, but I have big doubts.

I didnt watch him specifically but I'm wondering from the tenor of this thread how we had any success. Somebody in the middle of this defense mustve done something right since they couldnt do a whole lot against us.

BOOM! to this. you guys act like we got gashed for 300 rushing yards or something. **** according to this thread, not one DT/NG played well last night but for some reason we were able to hold their running game in check. (insert the "Vtech sucks crowd"..Even though this is the same Vtech team that beat OSU and Palmer/Pollack even alluded to that fact.)

Im not saying im back on the bandwagon..but the Dline played pretty stout if you ask me. Wyche wont be able to really show what hes got until the end of this year/next year. Thats when we can really grade him. Hertolou too. You guys act like every JUCO dlineman is Nick Fairley. **** where is Javon Hooks right now? Lol. Man I swear I watch Ole Miss games just to see if he is getting any burn and we all thought he would singlehandidly save the defense when he was recruited..

Point is that it takes time for these JUCO guys. Especially DT/NGs because they most likely come in out of shape anyway.

This was definitely the case with Cortez Kennedy. Didn't play that much as a junior. Coaches told him he could be an A-A if he lost weight. Which he did.

Anyone doubting Wyche's strength go find the clip of him slam a VT OL with one arm.

Was Wyche the one who had an awesome BP but lousy squat?

If I remembered that correctly, than he probably does have a big issue with lower body strength. Some of our best DTs seemed to have big butts and powerful legs, got a lot of push and explosion from the lower body.

If my observation is correct, he needs a lot of lower body strength and explosion work with Swasey.

Can't redshirt him. That's why.

Why he redshirtted at JUCO?

Yes. This is his fourth year out of high school. He has one more year no matter what. As for his inability to set the gap and hold position, I think that has more to do with coming off an Achilles injury than anything else. Once he is healthy we will see, but USC wanted him as badly as we did, so I assume he doesn't have a history of being pushed around.
