I asked this yesterday but there is no answer. He plays like someone unfamiliar with football. In addition, he is terribly out of shape.

My questions is this, if he has potential but can't contribute anything NOW, why not redshirt him?

Well, it's too late. I suppose the coaches figured he'd provide something as the season progressed, or in the event of injury.

Watching him get pushed back 7 yards off the LOS was pretty pathetic. I'm not sure what he provides because he is equivalent to tackling dummy.

The fact that the ACC prevented him from coming in early hurt him very badly. So, he comes in out of shape and over weight. He lost too much weight too quickly and he's paying for it now. Let's hope an off-season can fix him. It might.

Doesn't answer the question.

We all know he is not prepared and out of shape. If he has potential and can't contribute in 2014, why not redshirt him?

On skates the whole game. Hert hasn't been much better. The few plays Moten was in there it was embarrassing. Pierre flashes from time to time. Maybe the coaches should try one-gapping every once in a while....nah.

did Heurtelou play last night? don't remember seeing him out there. Saw a lot of Wyche and Jenkins...

DT recruiting and development (thanks Jethro) has been pretty terrible. I have an idea, retain everyone!

When they lined Chick up over the Center he actually played pretty good. Chick should be our NT not a DE. Also Chad Thomas was unimpressive. On one play it looked like he jumped out of the way away from contact. Not seeing a killer instinct yet with this young man.

I wasn't providing my opinion of his potential contribution. Just speculating what the coaches may have been thinking when they decided not to redshirt him.

I've never expected much from DTs that do not have D1 experience. That's why I have been so ****ed about our DT recruiting failures over the last 4 years. And there is no end in sight as far as I can tell.

He didn't want any part of redshirting. If we had indicated that redshirting was possible, he wouldn't have signed with us. At least that's how I remember the conversation. I don't have a link, and I'm far too lazy to look for it.

In retrospect, it was maybe a mistake to sign him. Fat, out of shape, and weak lower body is a bad combination.

Not defending jethro one bit, i think he is a waste of space on the coaching staff, BUT i think its more what they are being told to do and the scheme more than the development part, again not defending that ****, in college position coaches are more rceuiters than anything else, its the OC, DC, HC, and we all know jethro cant recruit for sh¡t

Those plays you saw him get pushed back several yards was due to 2 things - the defensive call and getting double teamed. The defensive call on a lot of those runs where we are getting pushed back calls for the DL to slant in and run parallel to the LOS. It's virtually impossible not to get pushed back a bit in that. When it was straight one on one in the run game or even pass game, I thought he actually did pretty decent.

I really don't think it's Jethro's fault. He doesn't have the horses who are able or willing to play the position. At some point after 100 games of seeing the same thing you gotta switch things up. That's on AG, not Jethro.
