I guess it hasn't quite sunk in yet for a lot of posters that this is the offense Mario wants. I think it is highly unlikely he is going to switch to a power spread O guy like Diaz did.

Would another Moorehead protégé be better than Gattis? Seems to me you'd just be moving the deck chairs around on the Titanic.

So why’d he interview Briles and Jason Candle? Boredom?

Wow more than half the board is absolutely dumb as ****. No surprise. Any way to see who voted for what?

Those that think he’ll be back are actually wishing for him to be back because they want Mario to fail. They’re going to be upset when he makes changes.

Bye Gattis, bye Ponce. Been done for weeks.

I believe that was debunked by @Cribby a few weeks ago. I had a sliver of hope that the Candle rumors were true but it seems there was not much to it. I don't think there was anything at all with Briles.

Post in thread 'Tired of making the same post' https://www.canesinsight.com/threads/tired-of-making-the-same-post.180022/post-6114473

It would be really good news if Im wrong. I like Candle's offense.

i just seen a recruit saying he’s coming here to play fullback. we’re f*cked either way.
yep Preferred walk on kid who gave an interview to Ferman. Told them Mario said he needs a fullback for redzone or short yardage situations. Kid is going to come in and they will see if he will play DE and some fullback or what..

Our fanbase is so ******* boring. Imagine sitting around tonight and thinking-

You know what this website needs, a thread about josh gattis. This is a unique concept and has not been discussed over and over for the last 8 weeks ad nauseum.

And later tonight I'm going to start a unique thread where people discuss who has hit the portal and who should hit the portal. No one is talking about this stuff. Canesinsight needs me.

Ignoring certain threads usually helps for me

Wonder if making a bowl game delays any staff chances? Would have to think Mario won't make any changes until after Bowl if they somehow beat Pitt.

I don't think Mario wants THIS offense... Maybe he thought he did... But no way he wants it after the disaster season we've had...

Wanting "this" offense has singlehandedly lead to this disaster of a season...it was the single biggest miscalculation he made assuming he could just plug in this offense with our personnel and it would be successful. Maybe the biggest mistake he's made in his entire coaching career.

And??....they wanted to bring some of their coaches (specifically Candle) and Mario balked....HUGE mistake...

OK, so if mistakes were made, correct them. We can't go back in time.

Also, Mario's blueprint is centered entirely on recruiting. If Candle, or some other coach, wanted to bring his entire staff and Mario felt they wouldn't be able to recruit at the level he's expecting, then that could be an answer as to why he didn't go that route.

We need to find a happy medium, and I know we're all just trying to beat Duke and Middle Tenn State at this point, but Mario is looking at a natty for the ceiling here. We have 50 hurdles to clear before we get to that level, we all know it and Mario knows it, but the lifeblood of this program will be centered around recruiting, period. You cannot win a natty without multiple ~Top 5 classes. It's a proven fact. So if he interviews an OC, and the dude will only come if he's able to bring 5 assistants with him, and Mario doesn't believe those dudes will be able to recruit Top 5 talent, then he's going to move on. The only solution here is to find a competent OC who either has a staff of elite recruiters around him (very few and far between), or an OC who is essentially a "one man band" who might want to bring some analysts, perhaps a couple assistants and Mario can surround him with other elite recruiters.

Dan Mullen, come on down.
