I honestly didn't even have time to look around before they hired Manny Diaz.
@Ethnicsands sarcasm my friendCall me crazy but I think Al Golden deserved another shot.![]()
Sell me on why Cristobal was a better option than Diaz, besides the fact that he's a good recruiter (with bags behind him).
Difference was that after Coker and Randy, there just wasn't much interest in the program. Golden left it with decent talent, then Richt left it with even better talent and he made some major program upgrades such as the IPF. Hopefully Manny ends up putting it all together because if not, this will have been a major major missed opportunity. Manny fails and this sets us back 3-4 years again. The 17 and 18 classes had us in a position to win now. We needed to win now to continue to have momentum in recruiting and all of that appears to have stalled out. That was also the main selling point of Manny by Blake. In the end Manny should get 3 years, it just sucks it came to this.Hey, at least they didn't fake a national search to hire him. They actually did that before hiring Randy Shannon. They actually spent money to find a guy already on the staff.
With this fan base, you never know!@Ethnicsands sarcasm my friend
What have coaching trees got to do with anything? Cristobal has jumped around too much to be considered anyone's disciple.Coaching tree matters. Richt's coaching tree is a stick. Saban disciples have fared better.
I don't care much for Cristobal but he would have been a far better choice than Diaz.

Doesn't he fail t'Franchise's test? He's taken an awful team to the mediocre level (8-5 seasons) and hasn't kicked on from there.Matt Campbell was a realistic option.
This is a guy who the nfl has had their eye on.
You are correct, I read the wrong line.Cristobal is 12-6 at Oregon, 39-53 is his overall record (including tenure at FIU). He also got FIU its first two winning records ever, before having a bad year. I'm not sold on him as a coach - especially his game day coaching - but people liking him for UM makes sense

This is the guy I wish we would have taken a look at. That said Manny should get time to prove himself.Matt Campbell was a realistic option.

Fellas from what I know and heard by speaking with someone....
Phone Conference: If we don't play outstanding Miami football for the remainder of this season... We will force his hand and will make him cut ties with some people on staff. This is big business now and believe it or not our hands are very much in it and we want to WIN NOW!.
