Who did you want

Cristobal wasn't interested with Diaz was hired. He was one year in at Oregon and there was no way the Ducks were letting him go after they'd just done one year with Willie Lump Lump before he bailed out for Tallahassee.

Mario would've been an option when Richt got the gig late 2015, when he was at Alabama—but at that time Richt was a better on-paper hire as Mario's only HC experience was FIU.

Fact remains there aren't a slew of guys interested in this job and aren't a lot of big named guys available. Look no further than OU turning the keys over to Lincoln Riley or Ohio State giving to an inexperienced Ryan Day the gig when Urban Meyer stepped down—instead of either program going for a big name guy—speaks volumes based on big names available.

Florida State settled on Willie Taggart when Jimbo Fisher took off—aTm WAY overpaying Fisher as they wanted a "big name" guy, who is underachieving thus far—and Florida settled on Dan Mullen; a decent B-level coach but certainly not a home run hire.

LSU stuck with Ed Orgeron, who isn't anything without his assistants. Tennessee has more athletic department money than God—spending $5M annually on recruiting; third in the nation—but keeps whiffing on their guys; Derek Dooley, Butch Jones and now Jeremy Pruitt.

To the original point; if I had my druthers, I would've liked to have seen Butch Davis rehired in 2015 when Richt got the gig. 63 years old at the time, mended fences with UM and went public with the apologies in "The U Part 2"—which came out around then and had him front and center again for the first time in years.

Once Miami passed on Butch then, I was happy with the Diaz hire in 2018. Manny revamped the defense quickly over three years—rebuilding a hot mess that Golden / D'Onofrio left—and that side of the ball looked like old school Miami for a while now.

Any outside hire beyond Diaz—again, who was available and wanted the gig? Can't think of anyone out there who would've been a good fit or worthwhile hire in 2019 as this job simply isn't as desirable as our fans think it is.
Great post

Speak for yourself and not others. Would you be happy with finally being consistent and making it to the ACCCG 2 every 3 years? If the answer is no then work on building a time machine because the days of the 80's are over and that's about the best we can hope for.

Don’t you find it slightly ironic to tell not to speak to others when you just spoke for others?

Moe, Larry, or Curly would probably have worked out better than the hires that were made over the last 15 years at Miami.

I'm saying your answer is wrong if the answer is no I'm not assuming what the fan base's response is going to be.

Not that Blake James would know what he should be looking for anyway but I’d have liked Miami to interview Cristobal, Babers, and Neal Brown.

Question 1: what type of offense would you implement?

Question 2: Will you maintain an aggressive 1 gap scheme on defense?

Question 3: What’s your track record with STs?

Question 4: will you recruit offensive tackles?

This implies he would lose at Miami -- something he's currently not doing at Florida.

Also, you underestimate how starved Miami is for a winner. You may think it's national championship or bust and Mullen isn't capable of that but that's not the reality. We'd be perfectly fine with consistent 9-10 win regular seasons which Mullen would be able to deliver.
Lol at mullen is not a fit. What he did at Miss St was a miracle. He’s currently doing well at UF. But he’s a goober bro so we don’t want him and the 10 win seasons and good offense that he would bring with him.

Neal brown would’ve been interesting and good hire.

My god Blake James is such an incompetent

Babers, Butch and any other coach whose name started with the letter "B"

I love how people drool over Cristobal. His record at FIU was 27-47 and 39-53 at Oregon. Butch is 18-12 at FIU and people bash him.

For comparison, he was 51-20 at the U and 12-23 at UNC.

Hire Cristobal and I guarantee he'd be the second incarnation of Richt.

I didn't expect our head coach Manny Diaz I tell you that much but I'm willing to give him the chance and my opinion on this matter to the end of this season before I cut ties. (Short lease yeah I know but I want to WIN as bad I'm breathing!!!) I look at other teams from sun up to sun down and we are still not progressing.

I for one wanted retired Head Coach Bob Stoops if interested??? The reason being because he would have brought a solid veteran monster staff with him! I have others but they either stayed or got promoted, or received other jobs.

This is the problem our HC -MD has on his hands his staff can't cut teeth against superior teams. I was shock that our boosters ante up the $$$ for incompetent staff we have now. If we would of known this ? I would of waited in my Head Coaching search....but our AD has A.D.D. so Blake scrambled like a chicken with his head cut off.

Head coach Manny Diaz has the opportunity to rewrite and steer the ship because hes such an innovative hands on type of guy. I just wished he could of took his time in hiring his assistants . He better tighten up because I tell you one thing as folks would say "THE STREETS ARE TALKING" (Former Players, Boosters, Alumni). 👀

Fellas from what I know and heard by speaking with someone....

Phone Conference: If we don't play outstanding Miami football for the remainder of this season... We will force his hand and will make him cut ties with some people on staff. This is big business now and believe it or not our hands are very much in it and we want to WIN NOW! He knows going into this.

Take it for what is worth.

GO Canes!
