Who are the best five players in college football in 2026?

It appears somebody done put something into DMoney's grape Kool-Aid with this premature crowning of CJ Carr

JJ smith (Ohio State)
Toney (Miami)

Just a single addition — from our own backyard — and UM goes into this coming season as defending National Champions and preseason No. 1.

Something to remember when people say one recruit isn't a deciding factor

I’m an Arch believer. He’s dealt with hype, adversity, bad OL play and came out stronger.

There just aren’t many guys with that size who can run for 60-yard TDs and make NFL throws.

Arch is a helluva athlete for sure.

Be interesting to see if can master all the mechanics and nuances of the position people just assumed he had down pat because he's a Manning

Can be based on production, ability, or both.

My early five would be (no order): Malachi Toney (Miami), Jeremiah Smith (Ohio State), Colin Simmons (Texas), Arch Manning (Texas) and CJ Carr (Notre Dame).

I'm sorry, but in no way should Arch "Stanton" Manning be on that list. He has neither production nor ability at a Top 5 level.

Last year it was Sellers, Klubnick, Allar etc

Saying he came out stronger is digging deep for a compliment

But I have no list it was just a ball busting joke per the usual

The postseason list will be very different than the preseason list. I think Mensah has as good a shot as any to be first pick of the draft.

I didn’t like the other two but I was a big Sellers guy. He’s probably the closest comp in terms of size, speed and arm talent.

Both suffered through bad offensive lines but I thought Arch held up better.

I was just being a smartass but I agree. OL play **** noone can attest to this more than Miami with how everything has turned around for us

It’s why I’d personally put Mensah against anyone. I know it was a QB friendly offense but even with our OL taking a step back, I said in February of 2024 that Cam would be in New York, I feel the same way about Mensah

Arch was #1 recruit for a reason

1. Mali - He is THE biggest playmaker in CFB. Bigger than Jeremiah Smith. There, I said it.
2. J Smith
3. Mensah
4. Moten
5. The Cali QB whose name I can't remember.

The one where Lane takes an already good QB and makes them better. Kid maybe a cancer but he is a player, there was a reason Mario wanted him in the first place.
The cancer thing is corny, more importantly he is limited as a passer and injured. Cam Skatebo and Jordan Tyson did a lot of the heavy lifting in the playoff run. Leavitt is highly overrated for what he is.

Eh, you don’t know what Miami would’ve had to sacrifice to get that. If they give JJ 2Ms, what 2-3 players aren’t on the team?

Also, it’s easy to say that ONCE you see the roster, but it took Miami hitting on nearly every portal player last cycle and signing 3 top 10 recruiting classes to get to the point where they were “one player away”.
