Where is the Gators hype coming from?

I get that, but the momentum stopped cold in the offseason.

They had one of the smallest Portal classes in the country with only six kids. It's also one of the worst classes in the country.

Those six additions include a backup quarterback, a punter, a glorified walk-on safety. a rotational DB, and a UMass EDGE with three sacks. The only good player they added was the #25 WR in the Portal.

Conversely, they lost seven players to the draft (tied for 6th-most nationally). That doesn't even include their leading receiver (Elijah Badger) and most explosive running back (Montrell Johnson). They also lost 23 players to the Portal, including five blue-chip transfers.

It's one thing to avoid the Portal if you're stacking Top 5 classes like Georgia and Texas. But they finished 18th in 2022 and 13th in 2023-2024.

Are they good enough to beat us? Of course. But when you look at the net loss of talent, it makes sense that Vegas is more pessimistic than the media.
Good enough to beat us lol I’ll take that bet easily they’re not walking into dade and getting a win. Billy has 2 wins on the road against p4 teams since he’s been at uf. South Carolina and Florida state two below 500 teams so if you think we’re that yes he can beat us if not you don’t have to appease these idiots with that disrespectful comment lol.

They also have a 5* returning QB that gave the team a shot in the arm, brought in a 5* WR & a highly ranked blue chip WR, along w a top rated Portal WR.

So

1. They end the season on high note
2. Parlayed that into recruiting a top 10 class
3. Return a strong OL
4. Return a very strong DL
5 SEC bias

Yes, there’s going to be hyped by pundits

U’re looking at things from a Canes’ fan perspective, & I’m giving u the National outlook. I’m sure if UF played in the Big 12 or ACC, there wouldn’t be so much chatter around them. Furthermore, I vehemently disagree w u; The Gators have zero business beating us this season b/c of everything u just outlined above. Hence, as I said, pandering to off season fluff means nothing until the pigskin is hiked Saturday.

I question both of these after seeing those groups in person. We dominated both lines badly, they lost a bunch of guys, and they added nobody. I think these units are more popular in the media than in Vegas. But let’s see how it looks in Fall.

And I’m not saying they should beat us. We should be the clear favorites. I’m saying they have enough to beat us on a bad day, just like Syracuse, Georgia Tech and the other mediocre teams we’ve lost too.

Again, they ended the season hot…I’m not sure y u continue to dismiss this fact. Whether u accept this fact or not is no never mind . U asked a ? & I answered

If uf is good enough to beat us we haven't upgraded from Manny.

If you think uf is a contender to make the conference championship you should see this Lamborghini Urus I'm selling for 34.99.
Man listen...

As I've said for years now, they always manage to win 1 or 2 games every year they have no business winning against a superior team. It's annoying af but it always happens.

It's Texas and then everybody else far as I see it in the SEC. I dont see UF as any better or worse than UGA, LSU, oir BAMA next season.

Do you think we could of have beaten Ole Miss and LSU? Heck no, and the Gators should be a formidable task for us. Sometimes I wonder about your questions D Money.

Its CFB writers. These same dolts had FSU as a top 10 team last year despite losing all their talent. It’s the dumbest collection of people ever. They just pick a rabid fan base, hype them up and presto…clicks=good informed writer. At least that how it works now. My $0.02.

Go Canes!

When it comes to SEC teams a lot of writers use whatever they need to justify what they’re saying. In this case they are banking on DJ having some talent, and UF somehow not falling off the cliff last year and ending strong. Last year we heard nonsensical arguments why Bama should be in the playoff because they had a couple “good” wins, even though they lost 1/3 of the meaningful games on their schedule. The last loss being a complete embarrassment of a performance against a dog OU team.

Could be a FSU like fall next year… tough schedule and if that team starts going through the motion it’s gonna snowball

Lagway is pure potential. Could he be great? Absolutely, but he struggled mightily no matter what they try to tell you when he was forced into action last year. We will see if he is even throwing in the fall before we can evaluate them anyway

I’m struggling to see the vision here. DJ Lagway is a legitimate talent, but they’ve added nobody and lost a lot.

The only blue-chip transfer they added (J. Michael Sturdivant) is a fifth-year player with a career high of 755 yards in 2022. They lost four blue-chip transfers up front (Pyburn, Searcy, Collins, Robinson) and another blue-chip corner transfer (Jackson). They also lost 7 players to the draft.

What is the argument they’ll be good?

The Gator hype is coming from the bowels of ****.
