Where is the Gators hype coming from?

D$ mentioned it….but one key area where Florida is hurting is DL depth. They lost a lot via the portal and maxed out eligibility/draft. Jackson and Sapp are good players, but they don’t have any depth to support them
Jackson is gone he’s on the Panthers. They are banking on Banks and Sapp. I’ve seen Banks really high on mock drafts but behind them there really isn’t much.

I’m struggling to see the vision here. DJ Lagway is a legitimate talent, but they’ve added nobody and lost a lot.

The only blue-chip transfer they added (J. Michael Sturdivant) is a fifth-year player with a career high of 755 yards in 2022. They lost four blue-chip transfers up front (Pyburn, Searcy, Collins, Robinson) and another blue-chip corner transfer (Jackson). They also lost 7 players to the draft.

What is the argument they’ll be good?
It’s literally insane @DMoney - you have all these writers and pundits putting them in top 10 or 15, yet Vegas has been their win total over/under at 7 which is anywhere from 5th to tied for 10th best in the sec

The math doesn’t math.

I like Vegas here

Put me in the same boat. Miami has a couple question marks (wr, can D go from 100 to 25) but UF has a ton.

Andy and Ari had another episode talking about Lagway and told listeners that if dont think Lagway is elite, you didn’t watch the games. They also said there was no dominant QB last year…

He had some big time throws for sure but if people only watch the highlights you miss all the INTs and the inaccuracy in between.

The gobblers point to the Ole Miss and LSU games, they scored 27 and 24 points and he had 180ish yards in 1 of the games and like 225 in the other.

Could he be great? Sure, the traits are there 100%. The hype is so strong around him he almost can’t live up to it without a Heisman and playoff appearance but I’ll let time be the judge for this one.

It’s all BS media narrative, that’s all it is! It happens every year, it was the same BS narrative they were pushing with Sanders in the draft. It’s all BS and nothing more!

I don't get the hype.
I want to stomp them but have them be just good enough to keep Billy around.

I'm old enough to remember around this time last year when people were saying Graham Mertz was just as good as Cam. Mostly florida fans were saying Mertz was better but even some national guys were saying "it depends on what you want for your offense" because according to them Mertz takes care of the ball better and played more on time.

These guys are clowns. I watched him play. He had flashes that dominated highlight reels, that’s it. The body of work overall is unimpressive.

To be clear, I really like Lagway. I think he's Anthony Richardson with actual brains and ability.

My issue is the players around him. They did nothing in the Portal despite losing a ton off a 5-loss team that's recruited at a mediocre level.

They won 2 homes games against solid teams, then beat a severly depleted Tulane team in bowl game. That is where all the hype is coming from.

I think they will be 2-2 after the first month.

I don't think they are better than Miami or LSU on a neutral field much less having to go on road against those teams.
Is USF down this year? Not sure they won't be 1-3.

Similar to Nico Iamaleava. Not saying they have similar style of play, but they both have strong arms, decent scramblers, and seem to have good understanding of their playbook. Neither are very accurate, and both are inconsistent as ****.

Nico was lighting it up early last season just chucking long bombs against those bums. Highlight real like you said. Once competition got stronger, those deep passes disappeared. Was forced into short/medium range passes and he failed. Nico was awful with medium range passes. Same with DJ. Might have a mid range pass every once in a while that looked amazing, but Nico’s and DJ’s medium range pass game sucks. Wildly inaccurate and inconsistent. Overall body of work unimpressive like you say.

They snuck up on some people at the end of the year

Won’t happen this year

Billy is their HC they’re ****ed for the foreseeable future
Stepped on campus season after the “ Gator Flop”. Have hated these mfer’s since, every chance we get to s++t on these cucks is good. This year we need to turn their s**t inside out. F**k these ******. 🙌🏽go canes

They’re playing the result while completely ignoring what got them the result.

Florida fan: DJ beat Ole Miss! We still have DJ, we will beat other similar teams this year.

Reality: DJ threw for 180 yards. They were out gained 464 to 344 and Ole Miss turned it over 3 times.

You’re not going to beat a lot of P5 teams gaining 344 total yards. Unless you have the top defense in the country.
