When you guys watched Mendoza, did you really think "Oh, yeah, this guy should be the #1 overall pick in the draft!!!!"

I didn’t…/ but I also thought the same of both QBs in the Super Bowl this year when they came out …

I do know that the kid is smart and accurate. Those two combined win

I don’t think he’s like a carry the team qb which is super rare but he can have nfl success with the right team and fit. I just don’t like the stat where you take his first read away while there is pressure applied. He isn’t the best at that but he can have success, needs a real good coaching staff and I think the raiders got them a really good HC that will help him.

He’s a very safe pick. When you put him side by side with Cam though it’s two different levels of QB.

I don’t have any sour grapes about the kid he’s just not that type of player. NFL stays making absurd QB choices though so its all relative
 
What players won the Heisman, went undefeated, won the natty and went #1 overall?

I’ve got Cam Newton, Joe Burrow, and likely Mendoza. Anybody missing?
 
FM is a good, likeable kid, but I am kind of tired of hearing about him. He won the Heisman and led Indiana to their only CFB title until the next ice age. Ce la vie', kid.

  • Cam Newton (2010): Won the Heisman and BCS National Championship with Auburn before being drafted #1 by the Carolina Panthers in 2011.
  • Jameis Winston (2013): Won the Heisman and BCS National Championship with Florida State before being drafted #1 by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2015.
  • Angelo Bertelli (1943): Won the Heisman and National Championship with Notre Dame before being drafted #1 in 1944.

I wanted us to go after him in the portal. Like others, I thought he was tough and gutsy! #1 pick, no I didn't see that. But, he does seem to always make a play when it's needed. I guess we will see. Hopefully the Raiders don't ruin him.
