What should Miami’s gameplan be on offense?

Something to watch for this week is using 10 as a decoy. It’s obvious to anyone with any football sense “ that little receiver “ will be AM’s focus. Which I love a defense focusing on a slot wr , it’s much harder to deal with that than say a X or Z who you can bracket. Doing that with a slot is a dangerous game that leaves so many more opportunities outside or with te’s on the other side.

So this week I’d like to see Malachi being used the same way but more action off the other games . He was force fed the ball against Pit , I believe 21 touches. So the last thing that defense saw was a heavy , steady diet of MT. I have a strong sense any motion , movement , aligning will have more attention on him than a big breasted teacher in a special needs class. All 22 eyes will be following him. This could lead to a Lofton , CJ or JoJo big play. Or opening a big play for Pringle in run game.

I still say feed Toney but maybe less touches and more manipulation. Just something to watch.

If I’m the OC, I’m putting Cassius Howell in conflict all night. Make him defend both the run and the pass. I’m running right at him early, letting Bell lean on that smaller frame and forcing him to be physical snap after snap.

From there, I’m trusting Beck to do what he does. Let him air it out, but with enough run mixed in to keep A&M honest. Once Howell starts cheating one way, that’s when you hit him over the top or isolate him in space. Make him prove he can hold up for four quarters.
Agree. Run counters to his side and wear him down. Make Elko get cute by dropping him into coverage, which is better than having him rush the passer.

I think using Toney as a decoy early on will pay massive dividends later on. I know A&M is going to be laser focused on 10 (for good reason). Juices will be flowing, they will over pursue anytime he’s in motion. Lots of misdirection. Get Pringle involved early, let Mark eat later on.

Hilarious I literally just posted something similar and then scrolled up and saw this. This is the way. Misdirection and using Toney as a decoy is THE play.

Get Beck in rhythm early with easy passes outside of the screen game. Those easy boundary throws to Marion or Daniels or Lofton out of the backfield in the flats something like that. I am worried about us going super Fletcher heavy early which can get us in some 3rd and long and I don’t want that at all.

On defense, FIND WAYS TO KEEP TOURE OUT OF COVERAGE PLAYS.
Yes! I’m hopping we keep them off balance with multiple backs. They’ve given up a ton of 20+ runs. They’re actually last in that department. I don’t want to get bogged down slamming Fletcher into the line of scrimmage. We need better vision out of him and quickly finding the hole. They give up 21-23 pts a game defensively, so we should be able to move the ball.

We are the better team. Coach to win. Go up early and make them force it vs. trying to shrink possessions and sneak a win. We've shown we can maximize our weapons by not being predictable. We also don't need to be unnecessarily cute for the sake of trickery. Go out there like we did the last 4 games and make them stop us.

Motion Baby Jesus on every single play

ricky GIF

I realize that we aren’t a great running team but we’re not a terrible running team. It’s wild to me that the pundits all think we literally can’t run at all.

I know what you mean about Toney from Pitt, but he needs at least 10-12 touches with about 6-7 being positive gains and 2-3 being big 15+ yard gains. This will definitely get their minds worried about him the entire game. We’d have to do the same with occupying Concepcion. We need them scared to death after getting hit. He definitely opens up our run game and helps to create one on one matchups downfield.

10–12 touches should be his average. One of the reasons the offense made a significant jump when his touches almost doubled.

Don’t need a script, but let’s step into Dawson’s seat for a second. What should the Canes be doing in this matchup?

Danny- if there is ever a time for Carson Beck to get his wish to become a running QB this is it.

NO ONE will expect him to do a QB run/pass option as he did in the USF game. pull the ball and take off around the corner for a critical first down or TD.

no one will be expecting that.

also need throws to Pringle out of the backfield. as many surprises as possible! and a lot of between the tackles running plays right at the AM defense- they are not good at stopping that.

Yes! Hit them in the mouth early. I’m not too worried about our ability offensively. Coach to win like you said. Eye candy, take advantage of mismatches, and win the one on ones. Run off tackle a little more to get the big boys in space on smaller LB’s and DB’s. I know the defense may have a hard time with Reed at first, but I think we settle down and take him away.

I’d like to get more looks with Malicat, more than just one or two. We’ve had some opportunities for explosives from that set, just haven’t really hit them yet. Even still, pretty much only good things happen when we run it.

I expect Texas A&M is putting in work to limit Toney’s effectiveness at receiver, so we can offset that by getting him the ball at the snap. And that could help keep Beck from locking on him too much, which I think TAMU is hoping for.

I see it as low risk high reward.

Our biggest issue all year has been pre snap . Cannot stress enough we can’t have our false start issues and our D going lining up offsides . Have to keep those to near zero

This.
Please don't waste possessions.
