What if the ACC went to 16 Teams?

What's the benefit of the service academy? Especially Navy ... They've been on a steady decline for the past 5 seasons. Just went 3-10 ...
Unless you can poach from another conference you run into real slim pickings for that last spot. I have no desire to legitimize UCF or USF and at least Navy gives you a certain national cache and strong academics even as your weakest athletics member.

Why would they leave the Big 12?
The ACC could offer more money and they’d save thousands in travel every year. Would have made a lot of sense years ago when they wanted in. Basketball was top 15, football is relevant and they had just built a new baseball stadium and gotten serious about it.

Fvck adding UCF. You guys really want to have another Power 5 Florida team?

Add Notre Dame and scrap divisions. Divisions are pointless anyways. Go to a 9-game conference, 10-game Power 5 schedule.
The UCF apologists on CIS is a sizable group. Not as strong as the Columbus High Mafia but sizable nonetheless.

I don’t think this would ever happen. It wouldn’t be fair for the south. That’s more lopsided than any other conference in the country

A division with us FSU and Clemson would be tough. That’s sec level difficulty but it would make us better

Why would they leave the Big 12?
Lets see

1. They are at a HUGE Recruiting disadvantage verse the rest of their conference.

2. Their sports can actually bus to the majority of their games. Louisville, Pitt, VT, UVA, Syracuse

3. The Big XII is very unstable. There is going to come a day when Texas and Texas Tech head to the Pac-12, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State head to the SEC.

4. They are in the middle of the ACC footprint which brings back point #2

5. They are in the Big XII because of Oliver Luck and there is some power people at WVU that still hate the move will will fork up the money to get them into the ACC.

Man, that ACC south would be tough sledding. That might be on the same level as the SEC West

Temple is logical because of their rivalry with Pitt and BC and they still hate VT.

But, UCF and USF seems like the logical choice, IMO.

And ND wants ALL THE $$$ to themselves and don't want to split conference $$$ with anyone, which is smart on their part. **** em and they can eat a dick, but smart.
Temple?
Temple currently has NO rivalry with Pitt or BC.

Only the Philly area teams (Big 5) consider Temple a perennial rival.

Temple has NEVER been a big draw even in Philadelphia

If it were up to me the ACC would kick out the conference interloper now. I would LOVE for Manny Diaz (and James) to tell the ACC that Miami will no longer play the independent Indiana team team as part of Miami’s ACC “allotment”. Schedule TX, PAC 12, some B1G, … any other P5 in their place.

I can’t believe teams(“fans?”) fawn over the “chance” to play them.

What about WVU? They are a Top 25 Overall Athletic Program. They are in a Top 15 in Merchandise. Fit right into the footprint. Long time rivals of Syracuse, Pitt, and VT. And have huge alumni representation in DC, Charlotte, Baltimore, and Pittsburgh. And they only compete for TV set in their state with Marshall.
Because there's nobody in their state. They bring nothing population wise and their academics aren't even remotely close to the ballpark much less in it to be an ACC school. The Big 12 is still pissed at themselves for that travel situation. Athletically yes, they would fit the bill, but nothing else.

You do understand WVU games draw pretty good TV ratings nationwide. They also have a very strong presence up and down the east coast. And if Louisville can get into the ACC with weak academics, WVU can also.
