What do this season and last have in common? 🤔

For all those talking about how close we are to 8-2/9-1 remember than 2021 Manny was close to 10-2, even 11-1 (that mich st game).

Mario turned that team into 5-7 and then now 6-4
And go figure, for that second tenure, Manny found a portal QB who could sling it and run as well as a OC who wasn't a slouch w/ the talent he had.

I'm going to disagree on a number of fronts here. We've lost our 4 games by an average of 8 points and can make a strong argument that we'd be 8-2 and solidly in the top 20 if even semi-competent QB play. We have one of the top offense and defensive fronts in CFB and a Top 20 defense. Not trying to sugarcoat anything, but it's clear to even the most casual observer where our issues lie.

Now compare that to last year when we lost to MTSU and got molleywopped at home by the likes of Duke and Pitt. Oh and our average margin of defeat was 21 points. We were blown out in all but 2 of our losses and looked listless in every conceivable way.

Oh, and FSU does not look improved at all compared to the beginning of the year. They struggled to beat us, an atrocious Pitt team as well as BC, and got to beat up on Syracuse and VT at home. Their schedule has been a cakewalk.
Anyone making "strong arguments" after nearly doing something is a clown. The "it was close" crew disgust me.

GT was won. TVD threw multiple INT's and our HC is an idiot. NC State we win if we muster up 10 points in the second half. S*it we had the ball down 7 in the waning moments with a true freshman at Doak. Again, not asking to give anyone a participation ribbon but these are all facts.

Those can be argued but none of it is strong. At the end of those games the strong argument was we didn't do enough to win. Anything else is an excuse.

UVA was won but kicker missed a chipshot.
FSU was won but we gave up an inexplicable 4th down
UNC was just 3 points away and we were in FG range

That's 10-2 in 2021. No participation trophies or anything but we fired that coach

Can't believe some people don't see any improvement. Railroaded by noone this year yet last year railroaded by MTSU.
There’s been major improvement at OL, RB, and across the defense. The WR’s are coached up much better, and we’ve been in every game this season. Bad QB play and coaching decisions have gotten us to where we are.

There’s been big improvement, unfortunately lack of similar improvement in key areas has held us back.

That's an entirely different conversation

Moping has definitely been consistent.
I think we should get to vote on the moper of the year. Winner gets season tickets to Gaytor games.

Yes FSU has improved so much from their BC win they beat a 6-4 Miami team with a TF QB making his first road start by 7

TrumpyCane wants to know where these idiots come from?
Completely agree. Also FSU’s gotta be one of the obvious examples of a team that’s gotten worse as the year’s gone on. They’re also starting to suffer from the injury bug.

Our record and who we lost to speaks volumes about Mario. As a Canes fan I hope he can change but he might be just a Fisher without the cred

If this program was on the verge of making the playoff, I would be significantly more focused on wins and losses to guage the success and improvement. We are not. That said, it's clear how much progess we've made on defense and the OL. Keep the faith brethren.

Poor QB play is the consistency over the last 2 years. Most all other areas are much improved this year. The Defense is night and day better then last year. Statistically, eye test, and keeping us in every game save UNC. IF you are going to make a post like this how about being open minded and not agenda driven. The facts speak for themselves. Opinions rarely do.
THIS ... respectfully ... we get qb fixed next year, we might be playoff bound

We are better than last year by a lot. Last year we were one of the worst P5 teams though. This year we have blown out a good MAC school. Hung in there with FSU and we beat Clemson and a&m. Compared to last year that is a substantial improvement. Now, we still suck, but we are getting better.

The OPs point was that we seem to have gotten worse since September, not unlike how we ended 2022 with a thud.

Comparing this year's team with last year's team is an entirely different kind of argument altogether.
