Week 1 Depth Chart

(Saban) does not want to have to walk into South Florida living rooms and be asked to explain why Bama's elite talent and infinite resources did not translate into a dominant victory over Miami.

This a thousand times over.

I have been saying this and saying this. I can’t say it enough.

Saban just doesn’t want to win, he wants to murder the Miami program

a lot of this reaction is dumb.

Carter is good at striker. Not great but good. And he’s heavier than Frierson.

DBs look right. One stud and two pretty good players

As I have mentioned JHH is a potential beast. Rate physical gifts. Just needed to be coached.

On offense…
I see a lineup that is fast, talented and mostly proven on offense. We lost a really good TE that was hurt for 40% of last year. Other than that…

We win the turnover battle, this game is interesting in the 4th qtr.
Exactly this. If we can generate turnovers and limit mistakes, then we can make this game interesting.

We’re experienced and they’re young, which means we should be more disciplined (you would hope).

I don’t have a problem with “look, I don’t care how good/bad of a camp either guy has had, GF is proven and the better player to me”. I get that, heck I even said that of all promising news we’ve heard in fall camp, the one I just can’t believe is that Carter is a revelation at striker.

But what I don’t agree with is the “these coaches man” mentality. Like they’re sitting down at meetings with the sole objective of getting Amari Carter as many starts as possible. If they wanted to do that they’d have just left him at Safety and told Hall to kick rocks. Half the brain trust of the defensive staff doesn’t give a crap about Carter, because they just got here this year. It just doesn’t make any sense.

Great post. That's my whole issue with this 'narrative'. I mean - I really have to believe that the coaches are sitting down and determining playing time with the best interest of the the team and winning first and foremost. Why wouldn't they? I'm sure there are situations where this is isn't the case but Manny certainly seems to be open to making changes. I just don't understand what would motivate them to put a player on the field that hasn't earned it. Especially now that we have some new coaches that know what they're doing.

Frierson was out of shape starting camp, Carter has played brilliantly, this is game 1.

Some of y’all want the narrative to be “lol dopey dumb **** scooping corches love seniority man” so bad you ignore literally everything else on the sheet, and what’s been said all camp. 6 is nowhere to be seen on the sheet, a true freshman is TE 2, second year and transfer guys all over the place, but you see the name at Striker week 1 and everything else disappears. Crazy.

This is good for Frierson, he needs to step up and take charge of his position, he needs to dominate. I don’t know why he let himself slide, but I bet he didn’t think he had competition at the spot.

And I know there are a dozen guys who feel the same as QP, they just didn’t post it yet. Or they feel the same way about McCloud. Relax, it'll work out.
Gil is a great dude but has been let’s say not 100% committed to be the best be can be. Everyone that knows him will say that, he hasn’t put in the work, he’s always to busy goofing around (which is fine) but not committed to being the best football player he can be.

kinda annoyed that Carter is starting over Gil. Outside of the ends, Gil was our most consistent defender last year. Wreaks of favoritism.
Gil understands everything on the field and is a good field general but spending to much time hanging with his boys instead of putting in the work needed.

I would have gave them to Flagg, Austin cave easily. Both are better and we’re better as freshman. Jennings is absolute dog **** as a linebacker it’s embarrassing

So you honestly believe that Manny is putting his job and potentially his career on the line by playing someone who is worse just because they're older? Why would he do this? Curious what you think his motivation for doing that would be. Could it be the other players are good but aren't quite ready mentally, etc.?

He hit him so hard he forgot to go after the football

Lol I know everyone hates Pope but the kid is a good football player. My whole point was Jennings shouldn’t see the field and not even in two deep. Cave, huff should be over him and sam brooks when he gets back. I watched the Unc game with mark dantonio and he couldn’t believe they kept playing Jennings and let alone didn’t change the their scheme against Unc’s run. He was laughing at the whole thing. Pope is finally in the position he should have been a long in slot. Everyone’s on restrepo as **** and he hasn’t done anything in a real game. Pope actually has
Hey Mark any chance Restrepo banged your girl?

Wow. You are delusional and must be trolling. No one agrees with you. I mean, these are seriously bad takes.

Lol this Defensive End group is the worst in decades
Agree, last couple DE classes have been average at best. We've been fortunate to have above average to elite DEs since Diaz took over but he will need to hit the portal hard for a difference maker, specially if we miss on the 4 2022 south florida studs.
