Week 1 Depth Chart

Carter over Frierson doesnt surprise me for this game in particular. I think he is starting due to our opponent and how the staff thinks they will attack us. Hes more physical and could help more in run support. Now if they come out in 4 wide I'd look for that to change rather quickly.
Was thinking the same. But McCloud though is a bit concerning. Prove me wrong hopefully.

If these two things happen, I like our chances

1. DTs winning more than losing against the Bama OL

2. TEs and RBs combining for over 8 catches, 100 yds and two 2 TDs

Either we are using Carter because we feel Bama is going to run on us OR Gil didn’t put in the work he needed prior to camp
Or, you're reading too much into it and both will play and Carter is a bit head right now.

Pope is too weak man just stop it, weak hands, weak body, cant catch any kind of contested pass just stop. Restrepo is the better football player, and at least Wiggins can run by people
He could hit the weight room obviously but Pope can can run by people lol. Not saying he should start

All that talk about the freshmen wrs and Wiggins is above them?
that’s not a good sign
This is the type of game we can’t afford any drops
He better not get any snaps

Wow. You are delusional and must be trolling. No one agrees with you. I mean, these are seriously bad takes.
99% people on this Board don’t know what they’re talking about and you’re one of them. Y’all just riding restrepos **** and blaming all Miami’s problems on a couple of drops. Shut the **** up

So you honestly believe that Manny is putting his job and potentially his career on the line by playing someone who is worse just because they're older? Why would he do this? Curious what you think his motivation for doing that would be. Could it be the other players are good but aren't quite ready mentally, etc.?
He’s been doing it.

I mean we should, I get why everyone feels a way about McCloud starting but if Jess is what he’s made out to be then we should be good. That’s how I choose to look at it
I read this a lot and I’m one of Simpsons bigger fans. But I’m not sure in this case you should believe what he saying.

Coach speak with no verifiable alternatives and probably trying to push Harvey and Chantz harder so they’ll compete more. I hope McCloud does amazing this season, I think that’s expecting too much of him though.

Gil is a great dude but has been let’s say not 100% committed to be the best be can be. Everyone that knows him will say that, he hasn’t put in the work, he’s always to busy goofing around (which is fine) but not committed to being the best football player he can be.

Ironic but IIRC his uncle had the same problem under Coker.

Based on his prior stint with Miami I’d give Coach Simpson the benefit of the doubt.

we should rotate enough on the DL that the better players should ride to the top

Maybe. I think this is a case of knowing where the holes were going into camp and only solving for OLB with Keontra. The “DE by committee” looks fine for ACC play. Flagg probably okay for ACC play. But I’m not sure we’ll have an answer for Bama.

I’m not all doom and gloom about this depth chart though. Offense is posed to score a lot. Lots of young guys are going to see lots of meaningful snaps against the national champions. It’s one of our better line cards since 2004.

Agreed. I’m cautiously optimistic that the DTs take a big jump forward (see Norton and McIntosh). Miller Hunte Nesta with a sprinkle of LT56, I think will carry the defense front 7
