Week 1 Depth Chart

In your opinion @Cribby do you think bama will really come out and try to spread us out? (Pause)
I‘m sure they’ll test us , I mean I’m sure they watched UNC. They have a completely new offense and skill guys so it would be smart to lean on their ol with a new qb. Especially early. We’ll come out in our base and go from there.

Something to remember- we have several new eyes on defense.

I know for a fact that one of our new staff members was raving about Amari Carter. Whether it translates to real games remains to be seen. But this isn't a case of favoring older players. Frierson already graduated.

I don’t think Zach’s problem is tackling or setting the edge. His issue at LB was play recognition/diagnosis, coverage & lack of lateral quickness/speed.
I don't know how much weight he put on since last year, but he was a tick slow for a linebacker but assuming he is similar to what he was, he should be well suited to be a defensive end. I'm cautiously optimistic.

Nobody in Canes history ever got trucked harder than Brandon Merriweather vs West Virginia. He ended up become one of our all time big hitters and was a feared man in the NFL.
Exact same thing as Carter. Got ran over once and he carried that stigma with him forever despite going on to become an All American. Carter is no AA but he's been decent. There was no need to write him off completely.

Harvey and McCloud over DeAndre????

Is this a good sign?
This is just the Week 1, 2 deep depth chart. It means nothing. You will probably see almost identical snap counts as well.
So whether or not it is a good sign, is more of 'nothing to be inferred' here. The only thing to be inferred is that we lost 3 top tier DE's last season to the NFL and need to recruit and develop that position hard.

Very similar situations. There were a number of qualified replacements readily available and he just refused. And COVID played no factor at all.
There actually was better players behind Jennings they just are scared to play talent over experience. It’s funny bc everyone was hating on Pope at punt return and wanted restrepo and I recall when restrepo did get back there he botched it. COVID is only excuse you can use

I mean.... aren't Flagg and Keontra both YOUNGER than Huff and playing over him?

TAC is as old as Flagg but he got hurt in camp which likely set him back.
Huff is older yes, but that’s bc they know what there doing. Jennings still doesn’t know what the **** he’s doing out there. TAC is good to go and should be above Jennings in depth chart. How are these young guys supposed to learn without getting snaps. Jennings been here what 5 years? He’s not Turning into Dan Morgan or Jon Vilma just bc it’s his last year.

Dude what are you talking about?

Wiith Restrepo they’re literally playing a young guy over someone like Pope who’s more experienced.

The same thing even applies with your own example. Jennings, Steed and McCloud all lost their jobs to younger players in Smith and Flagg.
