Week 1 Depth Chart

“But Carter can hit and we need that physicality vs Bama”

So tired of seeing this lol. All he does is hit defenseless players illegally. Seriously. when has he lined up the ball carrier and popped them the right way? I can only remember him getting bulldozed against UNC when he tried to do it.

I’ve accepted the fact that he will play, but posters commenting as if he is going to be Polomalu near the box need to freshen up their memory. Hopefully he knocks someone out this game. If he is going to get ejected, make it worth it and take out one of theirs too 🤷🏾‍♂️

He does that because he isn’t very consistent in the open field.

Targeting will be much less of a problem at the line of scrimmage. We will see more plays like the Bethune hit and he will make stops in the backfield before running backs get too much momentum.

You guys are literally taking one game and stamping this guys entire career with it. That is literally the only game posters bring up when talking about this guys 6 year career here. UNC UNC UNC UNC. Good lord. To say hes not a physical player is not looking at the broader scope. Now whether you view him as physical based on your criteria is another story.

But if you ask me who is the one guy on our defense I trust to not get the soft shoulders come the 4th quarter when Bama is bringing Brian Robinson Jr at us in droves like a battering ram..its absolutely AC. Alot of guys on that defense are going to get their heart tested on Saturday.

In a perfect world, all the below guys would need to "prove it" before they are named 1st or 2nd team:

Starters:
McCloud
Carter
Flagg
Ivey

Subs:
Jennings
Wiggins
Pope
Traore
Herbert
Steed

But the world isn't perfect, and our team is still rebuilding. So let's cross our fingers and hope all our boys live up to their potential and deliver on the positive buzz we've been hearing coming out of camp.

It's about match-ups guys, I'm sure the staff KNOWS Bama wants to just run it down our throats and leave that game without revealing much of their O. They dont care about this game like we do lol we're a small spec on their radar for this season and they have the size and talent to just move us around until proven otherwise. That's the ONLY reason Carter is starting.
We need a package with Roberts and LT and defensive end to slow their run game down

T-Rob is absolutely in love with Ivey. This should be an interesting plot to follow seeing that its basically the entire UM fanbase vs T-Rob on this sentiment. LOL.

It’s just the only play that I can remember that wasn’t an illegal hit. Can you think of anymore? I’m not against the kid. I’ve stated that I have already accepted that he will play but for all this physicality he has, no one can tell me of the big time legal none defenseless player hits he has either. That’s ok, just get the guy down, but I don’t view him as some big time thumper either cause I haven’t seen it. That’s just me 🤷🏾‍♂️.

And just for chits and giggles, here's my stack ranking of the guys I believe are most likely to deliver Miami caliber performances:

Ivey, Carter, Pope, McCloud, Steed, Wiggins, Traore, Flagg, Herbert, Jennings. ... Even among the black sheep, I have very little faith in Flagg and Jennings. On the other hand, I believe the first 4-5 guys in my ranking have it in them to prove us all wrong.

@Jassid82 , yeah, Ivey has impressed everyone for years until he has to make a play on the ball. Then he forgets to turn his head or misdiagnoses a route. Kid definitely has potential, though. Hope he plays like Tarzan this year, not like Jane.

I hope so

and Bethune Cookman, thank you for bringing one of his noteable LEGAL hits to the discussion. His hit vs Bethune Cookman in 2019 lol. Not laughing at you, but I think this just adds to my point. Prove me wrong, kid.

They're gonna run at Zach all day long... Manny better have a solid back up plan cause this one don't feel right...

Few interesting results...

Carter over Frierson
Clark 2nd string center. Is he even practicing?
Scaife over Williams (bodes well for us as Williams was solid last year and we know Scaife is a better tackle than guard)
Harvey over Johnson
Williams 2nd string safety
The rumors on Balom might be true and if so Williams is the next man up.
