Week 1 Depth Chart

This is a bad take. A lot of Saban's game breakers come from SoFL. With NIL giving the kids legit cash in hand, Bama has a less distinct bag advantage for those recruits.

Right now they can say UM cant touch us on the field. What is Saban's pitch if we whoop their *** on the field or even play em close and we can get kids reasonably paid. Better believe Saban wants to reinforce the narrative that Miami is miles behind Bama.
You're delusional if you think we'll "whoop their ***". Bama doesn't care about Miami because we've given them no reason too, take off the canes shades

The concern is not just that they're playing favorites with some of these guys. Its that even if they **** up they'll stay out there week after week after week. Look at how many blown coverages and targeting penalties Amari Carter had to commit before they finally saw enough from him.

Its also a little hard to buy that it took 5 years to figure out that Carter is actually a striker, McCloud a DE, and both are good enough to start.
The coaches have said that both Carter and McCloud have looked great in camp in their new positions.

If you do not believe them then that is fine.

However, there's also insiders on this board and people who have nothing to do with the coaching staff who have also said they look great in their new positions.

You do not have to believe them either I suppose. But I think it is wise to just rely on what they are saying other than just what you have seen at different positions the last few years no?

Fans are so annoying. Some people complain the staff is sticking with some guys because of the past but then want certain guys starting because of their past. You can't have it both ways.

How about this is the start of a new season and the staff evaluated guys and determined who has been better. In addition to determining who would be better in the first game of the season against Alabama, the number one team in the country and defending Champs. You want a team that is experienced, stronger and hits harder. But you also see a bunch of young guys on the depth chart. It's obvious the staff is picking guys who came in and showed out in the off season. Also, as many others have mentioned, this team will rotate a lot of guys. Everyone listed on the depth chart will get significant play time. This is modern football and sports in general. Labels such as starters are somewhat fluid.

We were told that there would be a suspension or two for offense…Could Pope be that guy? Everyone else on the O chart doesn’t seem to be out of place…

We are in a bad spot at DE. Very thin with, not a lot of proven talent. Time for these guys to show what they got.
Imagine what teams like Duke think about their DE’s then. They’d beg on their hands & knees for what we have at DE.

I don’t have a problem with “look, I don’t care how good/bad of a camp either guy has had, GF is proven and the better player to me”. I get that, heck I even said that of all promising news we’ve heard in fall camp, the one I just can’t believe is that Carter is a revelation at striker.

But what I don’t agree with is the “these coaches man” mentality. Like they’re sitting down at meetings with the sole objective of getting Amari Carter as many starts as possible. If they wanted to do that they’d have just left him at Safety and told Hall to kick rocks. Half the brain trust of the defensive staff doesn’t give a crap about Carter, because they just got here this year. It just doesn’t make any sense.
Hard to reason with a group where the average IQ level isn’t above 5th grade. Even more challenging once the tin foil hats come on

Better than I expected.

Love:
- Arroyo, Williams, Kinchens, and Clark are in the 2 deep
- Smith, Rambo, Harley, and Restrepo are confirmed to be the top 4 receivers as most have seen throughout spring and camp
- Nesta being an "or" for both starting DT spots - allows us to switch it up and even have our 2 best DT together JHH and Nesta
- Starting OL - looks solid with a very good backup tackle in Williams
- CBs- looks solid with Stevenson, Ivey, and Couch as our top 3 with Blades a very good backup

Feeling Meh:
- Carter over Gil - many are freaking out, but I'm sure they are both going to be playing a ton, starter just means they play first play
- Wiggins over Pope - I'd rather have Pope over Wiggins, but I realize that Pope needs to play slot to succeed and we are deeper there
- McCloud starting- ideally would of preferred it to be Johnson and Harvey as our starters, but apparently they want them on the same side, expect both to play a ton so not that worried. Hopefully McCloud can provide production similar to Trent Harris.

Not happy about:
- Jennings in 2 deep - Put Brooks there please! Edit: He's injured so makes sense, we will have to deal with this week 1

Sorry if already discussed but what are we hearing of the rumored suspensions?

You very likely said Jennings and McCloud would start at LB and Pope/Wiggins would start at WR because of favoritism this year.
