We should all be Clemson fans this weekend.

Miami’s in the Coastal. Louisville, Clemson and FSU (NC State...) all reside in the Atlantic. And fans want fans to hope Miami can back into an ACCCG when Miami has the most talented team in the division and arguably the easiest path to win it? Maybe Miami can get a waiver to play Syracuse and Virginia every week, too?

Nope, not doing it. I don’t care who wins, but I’m rooting for VT. Why? ‘Cause I feel like it (not that it matters when I’m hoping we have to play Clemson in the ACCCG). If the players voted down a trip to the CFP because they didn’t go undefeated, I’d back them up (though i’d Hope they wouldn’t do that. LOL).

Canes fans used to pride themselves on going everywhere to play anybody and beat them...week to week; now, look what we got? Clearly we don’t have Genco’s, Sonny, just a bunch of Tom’s.

Ain’t NOBODY telling me who to root for...to be a “Canes fan”. Let’s go VT.

You make valid points. But to get back to that point, we need to catch a couple breaks. If we dont play in the ACCCG, it will be a huge blow. Just get there, let the players build confidence, let the perception of our program change for the recruits, and then we can get back to kicking everyones ***. I see where you coming from, as i miss knocking off those high ranked teams on national TV. But unfortunately we been irrelevant for over a decade and we need a little luck.
The teams that affect our recruiting most in South Florida have to stumble, fail or be beaten by Miami. Bama affects our recruiting, but they’re not losing and the only way we play is CFP. UGA affects our recruiting (now) so I hope they lose to everyone they play including UF (and UF should be lucky to win 7 games...which helps our recruiting). Clemson affects our recruiting. I want them to lose and we have to beat them at ACCCG. OSU affects our recruiting. I want them to lose. Michigan is better in Florida than PSU, so begrudgingly, I’ll accept a PSU Big 10 title but I hope WI wins it, they have a minuscule Florida presence.

Which brings us to VT. They barely, if at all, affect our recruiting; though it would be nice to establish a stronger beachhead in their territory. We play them! We must beat them! If we beat the teams that beat the unbeaten teams that helps us with recruits. I like Richt, but if he can’t win all of our remaining games (Duke; an FSU team that will lose at least 4 games not including Miami; GT; Syracuse; winless UNC; team UGA beat; UVA; and 1-4 Pitt) then he’s not the coach we need.

If we can’t beat VT we shouldn’t win the Coastal.

Virginia plays in our division, genius. Also, Va Tech in some circles are considered our rival. For all of your chest pounding, you've forgotten to mention that we have yet to win our division and play in a ACCCG. I'd like to get the monkey off our back first before we start bloviating at how a division should be won.

Listen I believe we are at least 1 year away from competing for a championship. We are getting better and we need to at least win the coastal this year. We are not a good enough team yet to believe we will win the coastal. I believe we are co-favorites with Vtech currently and anything that helps us pass them up I'm rooting for.

I'm rooting for VT... Would move them up to the Top 10 for their game with us... I can't honestly remember the last time we beat a Top 10 team. Plus I hate Clemson... GO CANES!!!

All I know is if VT beats Clemson we better buckle the F up because they're for real. Clemson has been very impressive and IMO is the best team in the country right now.

I dunno, VT wins they're in the top 10 until we curb stomp them by 2+ TDs at home - I'd rather see that.

you're cheering for the gators to beat georgia?

take a lap

Let me be blunt. I want VT to lose because they are a division rival. But, I have no love for Clemson. Every year I predict that my team-MIAMI-will go undefeated. That is the season goal. The secondary goal is to win the NC, the third is to win the ACC and the fourth is win the Coastal. This year we could still achieve all of our goals irrespective of who wins that game. But, only an idiot would NOT want VT to get a loss which makes one of our lesser goals easier to acheive.

No that gives miami even less room for margin of error. We are trying to win the coastal va tech needs to get beat as many times as possible

I think VT plays Clemson tough. No need to go into detail about Lane stadium at night, but Bud Foster has proven time and time again that his defenses can stick with anyone in big games, including Bama. This isn't the end of the Beamer era either this is an energized program right now. I've got a ton of respect for the coaching on the other side of the ball and some of the things Fuente innovated at Tcu and how his offense has looked so far at VT. 17-5 in his last 22 games. This is the classic game VT maybe loses but plays tough as nails and gains respect

Anytime a member of the Coastal takes a conference loss, it helps Miami get into the ACC championship game. It's that simple. This one's not a matter of strength of schedule or rivalry or who's the bigger fan. It's a simple matter of Virginia Tech losing and Miami winning on Friday moves Miami to the top of the Coastal Division.

Good point.

Anybody rooting for Vaj.Tech to beat Clemson Saturday night because they would rather see us play an undefeated, top 10 Vaj. Tech team is an idiot.

Finally, for once, our top competition in the coastal plays a quality crossover game, and it would be nice for Clemson to hand them their first conference loss, which would then allow us the pleasure of simultaneously knocking them out of the coastal race and putting ourselves in the driver seat.

Weird that this is even a debate for some. Rocket science that you'd want VagTech to get an early conference loss and us to have a matchup with a potentially undefeated Clemson team in the ACCCG?

Nobody saying go out and buy a bunch of ghey orange and purple gear but sometimes there are preferable outcomes for us to other games.

Thank you. At least some people get it.

There is a distinct difference in "rooting" for one team vs wanting to see the opposing team lose. I want to see the GayToys lose every ***** game, but that does not mean that I sing Rocky Top when they play ***** Tennessee.

You are encouraging Miami fans to root for another team other than Miami. That **** doesn't sound ridiculous to you? WTF

At the end of the day it's the same thing. I'm not going to be sitting on the edge of my seat hoping Clemson wins, but I'm certainly hoping Tech loses. So what would you call that?

Some of our fans - always looking for reasons to root for other teams.

I don't root for anybody but this U.

Whatever happens, happens. Whoever wins, wins. If it helps us, so be it, but it's way too early in the season to know the ultimate impact. Yes, it might end up being better for us if Clemson wins. But root for them? FŪCK NO!

Too many threads about rooting for other teams.

Again, no one is insinuating going out and buying Clemson gear and decking yourself out in it. It's not rocket science to see that if Tech loses, it will benefit us.

So your entire bit is because of ReCrUiTiNg meanwhile we currently have a top 5 class despite never having played in the ACCCG and despite Clemson winning the national championship literally a year ago.

OK.
