He was bad in a lot of games (UNC, CMU, Va Tech GTech, FIU & Duke).
I think a lot of people on board have simply overlooked his poor performances or they just forgot, but I rewatched every one of those games (I recorded them all on my DVR) & people really don't understand how often he was beat, there was just a lot of times the QB either didn't throw at him or made a bad throw, but I'm telling you, he was beat so much it was ridiculous.
The UNC game he was exposed by offenses, Phil Longo figured out all you have to do is make him run down the field & you'll beat him every time, they discovered that he gets ate up vs the Deep ball.
UVA put on a clinic vs him too, **** near every play they was throwing at him because he simply couldn't get his feet under him & was playing too wide out of his stance at the LOS, he gets beat off the first move by the WR on the line because his footwork is subpar & he doesn't stagger his feet, he lines up too square & he does what we call "Opening the gate" which is basically allowing the WR a free release, so as soon as the WR takes a step off the line he's already trailing.
Not trying to bash the kid or pile on, but I just think it's being undersold that CB is a issue due to lack of depth & the fact the CB2 has a long ways to go before he deserves blind fan confidence in his ability to hold down his side of the field.
It's why I've been screaming all offseason for a GT CB, but unfortunately it's gonna be one of those things that we just have to deal with all season. Because trust it, OC's are gonna attack TF out of Ivey's side of the field.
