i agree with everyone that this year's defense doesn't look as good as the last 3 years but fans are emotional and stats are not and the stats see a defense that is still way above average 🤷‍♂️
 
FSU is pretty garbage but their offense will tell a lot about our defense, because they're going to make our DBs cover deep and tackle in space. if the defense shows up in that game the complaining is gonna have to stop.

OP is spot on. Give raises to Banda, Rumph, Patke and Blake the Great. Stats are everything. Can't possibly be doing better on defense.

Seriously.....we have played crappy teams but statistically we are 15th and you think that makes the D good? If we ever played teams with decent talent dIAZ would get his **** pushed in. References below

Our schedule factors in OP's stat. If the D was actually 15th in P5, we wouldn't have lost to VT and GT. We may have played our best defensive game with UF, although even Franks was overrated imo. If Baker was kicking *** on defense then why did Manny decide to help with coaching the D.

Got ****! This is like posters defending D’Onfrio defense, toting the narrative that we were 13th in total defense. Smh. I completely ethered the most overrated stat in CFB, total defense, total offense. It’s inflated based upon who you play. So let’s peel back the layers of this stank onion, AGAIN, to see if we really are that good on defense:

So how’s our 3rd down defense? (70th)
How’s our 4th down defense? (128th)
How’s our RZ defense? (T-99th)
How’s our passing defense (T-32nd)

Who have we played?

-UF (52nd in total O / 28th in pass / 90th in rushing)

-UNC (40th in total O / 34th in pass / 69th in rushing)

-BCU (FCS)

-CMU (53rd in total O / 51st in pass / 54th in rushing)

-VT (81st in total O / 79th in pass / 53rd in rushing)

-UVA (108th in total O / 56th in pass / 123rd in rushing)

-GT (118th in total O / 120th in pass / 62nd in rushing)

-Pitt (86th in total O / 42nd in pass / 109th in rushing)

Lol. We haven’t faced an offense WORTH A **** all yr! Yet, we’re 4-4, can’t get off the field on 3rd or 4th down, and a complete Thot, busting it wide open in the RZ. Our rushing defense looks so polished b/c every opponent we’ve faced can’t run the ball. Lol.

FOH w that 15th in total defense bull chit trying to prop up Baker.

And so we’re clear, now that I’m thinking about Manny’s tenure here; the moment we faced an offense that could either run, pass, or both, we got ate.
 
Btw, just to add to this. Georgia tech is an awful team. And guess how much they ran for ? 200+ yards on the ground. That’s atrocious. How can someone not get fired after allowing 200 yards to the worst team in the ACC 🤔🤔🤔
