We are Currently 15th in Total Defense

Homers going to home man they will look for any positive. Stats dont always tell the story but some fans use that alot. Who threw the most tds at UM? Im sure they will use that to say hes the best qb...stats only tell part of the story. Im sure Yearby had more yards then Cook in HS but it dont change the eye test on who was better

Damne sure isn’t average..but it’s not elite because it isn’t elite on 3rd down and creating turnovers..but it **** sure isn’t average at best...our offense puts this D in terrible situations as far as TOP
 
The defence has improved as the season has gone on - I do wonder how much of that is due to Diaz having more of a hand in it.

That said, sometimes you simply can't account for your MLB being left in the dust by anyone with a pulse.

LoL, coach baker gave enos already and the offensive players false confidence cause his **** has been working in practice, now after several games, the players know, that offense is conservative, but shouts out to kj osborn, just ballin with NO EXCUSES! Its obvious coach diaz is more involved now with the defensive side of the ball, blake still belongs in the mac conference,in fact both blakes do!

Teams with trash offenses drive up and down the field on us, that is not a good defense. How many times did uva make it in the red zone only to **** themselves.

Context is everything and if someone is going to say we have a really good defense or great and not apply context then they are simply wrong.

And I could say That’s not true because we didn’t get “torched” vs UF...but I watch enough CFB and football to know the type of statement u just made is asinine lol

Consistency is the only problem, but like been posted if we had anything at average from offense and kicker we would be better.

Of course you aren't shutting good offenses down in todays game. Lsu gave up 38 to texas. Uf gave up 42 to lsu. **** bama couldn't stop clemson. If you can hold them in the 20s then that's a win. Our problem is we can't score like those teams can.

Who's fault is that?. We had to play against their same guys right other than the qb correct?.

This D downgraded from last year obviously..but like some one else said...we could kind of live with this D..especially with the moving pieces we have on D. A few bad calls of coverage from the DC,etc... That offense is fundamentally a disaster on the other hand.

All those other schools have played much better teams than us. Our schedule is about as week as it can be this year.

It's the situational calls, bad designs and the fact we've played BAD offenses. I think the defense has taken a step back....and it's not just the talent by the scheme and calls. Some of the zone blitzes we've run this year as gawd awfully designed and executed. For a heavy blitz team we are terrible at disguising and timing it.
 
It’s not good , it’s not average and it’s definitely not bad. But it’s far from our biggest issue.

Just having an average to above average O it would look a lot better. They’re literally on the field all game , sometimes because of their own doing and a lot because our o is a three and out machine.

Theres two groups here....” the homer’s “ and “mopes” . Both as aggravating as the other and both rocking their own agendas.

Some of you won’t give any credit and but then make excuses for the positivity. Yet make excuses for the other team being awful is why we had the positive out come. No way it was our d.

Yes uva went inside our 30 a lot but we turned them away **** near every time. Which is how d is played in this era. You can’t flat out stop people anymore , you have to bend some.

We have guys that overrate our players then the others that crap on them and underrate them.

Fact is the d kept uva and Pitt out of the end zone, two games against pretty good teams. Let’s not act like they’re Bethune or Famu. Those teams have been scoring just fine before playing us.

It’s ok to say the d did a pretty good job those games , it won’t hurt you. Then you can go right back to ripping everything.
