How about you rip on Golden's (THE COT**** HEAD COACH) timing just as much as you're ripping on Sapp, a former player, who has no say in the day-to-day operations of the program. Wow! For ***s Sake! The point is Golden is a piece of crap for the PSU thing and no one is forgiving him for that (The First wrong). But that's all in the past and he ain't going anywhere. I've accepted that fact already and have made the recruiting class my focal point.

Now beyond what Golden did we have to hear Sapp spew his voice and trash the program a week before signing day? (Second Wrong)

Hence why two wrongs don't make a right, get it?

At this point the only thing that can save this school and team is the recruiting class but the coach ain't leaving soon..

It not so many words he basically said the coaching staff sucks. Now we all agree with him but why can't he keep his mouth shut instead of adding to the fire?

You're comparing apples and oranges. Take a moment, along with a deep breath, and you'll see that. Incomparable.
 
I'm not comparing them. I don't think what Sapp said is as bad as what Golden did, not by a thousand miles. I'm saying we don't need one of our beloved Alumni with access to the media, publicly voicing his opinion about the team and staff. It doesn't help recruiting, which is all I care about at this time.

Basically I agree that the majority of the blame for our recruiting failures rests on Golden's shoulders. However if you don't think public outcry, fan unrest and alumni all gathering with pitch forks doesn't have an affect on recruiting. Then I don't know what else to say.

I'm not here to fight with anyone. I just want people to realize how bad the public perception has gotten and the fans as well as the alumni need to do a better job protecting the schools/teams image instead of mouthing off about Dorito and contributing to the fire.

We are a laughing stock and things need to change. We can start by changing our tune and accepting the staff is not getting fired and support the school in our recruiting efforts. I can't stress enough how much public perception and word of mouth influences these kids/recruits.
 
I'm fine with former players voicing their displeasure with the staff.
But show some freaking class if you're going to. I know Sapp is a classless scum so none of us should really be surprised.
And if he's going to call out the coaching staff, offer more than just saying they suck.
Explain exactly why. Give your professional insight. Offer something else than what we will find in the pit of this board.

Anyhow, listen to how Eric Winston basically calls out the staff without sounding like a classless jerk.

I can't stress how having your **** pushed in when playing against any meaningful opponent influences those same kids 1000x more.
In other words, the damage from the past three seasons has been done.

Dorito and his ****headed scheme has absolutely KILLED our "public perception".

This is what I can't get even from our seasoned vet's in this thread alone. The product on the field has done way more damage than Sapps comments.

Have there been any "apologists" on this thread at all? All I see is people saying that the timing was awful for this comment. I don't think anyone disagrees with him, we're just all saying why the fck would you bash your school one week before signing day when we have a legit shot at some big names that could go either way?

I didn't hear any bashing of the school just the defense. All I heard was pride and love for his school and disgust for what has happened to his schools feared and revered defensive reputation. The timing of his remarks won't effect the recruiting any more than the stats of the last 3 years.
The truth will always set you free.

I'm afraid we are not going to see any improvement in the defense in the near future and the thought of watching my team again playing bad football is weighing heavy on me.

Retarded comment. No way to prove that at all. We aren't going to get better if we keep losing all of our defensive recruits that's for sure. One right after the other, keep the negativity flowing and we'll be in another hole for 3-4 more years. Some of you guys live to be negative, it's f'ing crazy.
