Virtually impossible to do. I tried coming up with my four and just gave up.
Maybe a UM Mt. Rushmore by position group is doable or Mt. Rushmore by era.
Jim Otto has no business in a UM Top 4....Not saying he wasn't a good player....but his accomplishments are Dwarfed by a plethora of other UM Greats...Easy list to respect, has dudes from all eras of Miami football
Ted Hendricks would be George Washington.not sure hes wrong if its only 4 allowed.
Jim Kelly as well.Hendricks, Otto, Lewis, Irvin, Reed, Brown, Taylor... geez it is hard to pick the best of the best when they are all that high up the list of All-time greats.
But in all fairness...It was Schnellenberger's Pro Style offensive scheme from 79-83 that really was what woke America up....I feel like Miami made its name on defense. My Rushmore would have Taylor, Reed and Lewis there, along with one of our DT greats. Probably Sapp himself, though there are some other obvious options.
No, because a Top anything UM is your accomplishments in College...What about when Frank Gore ends up the NFL all time rushing leader? Does that get him on there?
Not to mention he'd be the all time sack leader not only for UM, but college football had they kept those stats. Also, blocked FGs.Ted Hendricks?
He was a 2 time 1st team All-American, and 1 time 2nd team All-American, and he had an award named after him.
He had 327 career tackles, an all time Miami DL record.
He forced 9 turnovers in one year!
To me he's #4 or #5....Best WR in UM History....and especially in Big gamesIs it pretty much consensus that MI47 is the only guy you CAN'T leave off?
Think it was 6 or 7 Sacks....on last one Spurrier threw ball at him...Not to mention he'd be the all time sack leader not only for UM, but college football had they kept those stats. Also, blocked FGs.
Didn't he have like 6 sacks against Spurrier the weekend after Spurrier won the Heisman? He was a dominant force. I read once that had they kept sack stats, he would have had 100+.
