Walk with me

reminds me of Carl Walker, one of the all-time physical freaks to ever matriculate at Miami. Hopefully he has a better career than Carl

It’s an interesting comparison and thought

But when is the last time a position switch has worked out for Miami in the portal era?

I feel like nowadays guys get recruited to play a position and compete for immediate playing time.

Not necessarily. I just noticed that the two best draft-eligible WRs in the country were both 6'3 hurdling champs in high school and pulled the comparisons.

But as I reported a couple weeks ago, we are trying to add more linebackers to this class. And Randle is an elite athlete.
"not necessarily". It's either yes or no.

Isn't this what Greentree is for?

“We did build this team to be sustainable for the years to come. We don’t stack talent behind each other. We actually, appropriately, select, and place guys in situations, and at positions, where they continually grow and develop. We like [that] we’re [now] postured to do that….“ == Mario Cristobal six months ago

I don’t think taking basically 4 blue-chip WRs and, 1 great athlete whose a WR neophyte yet placing him as a +1 w/ the 4 anyways, given that we still have Malachi Toney, would allow for a just end result. Especially with how we substitute.

C’est la vie tho. Clemson did pass on him at LB and looks like we’re, our staff, is seeing why. If we’re going to move him to offense, I’d prefer for him to be our second TE much, much more than another WR where he will have a tougher time seeing the field.

We need this athleticism at LB more than WR with respective commits coming in
If we have Cypher and Whiteside joining Glover soon, then the staff has identified LB as a spot that’ll be tough for Randle to succeed at. However, they still love the kid/family and athleticism + instincts.

It seems the staff should drop him but they can’t due to the athletic traits
They should drop him reallocate those funds for wright and the lb cypher
No projections needed with those two

I’ll say this I like the athleticism but the physicality at LB is lacking. He isn’t scared of contact but you just don’t see him running through anybody. All his tackles are just arm tackles

He’s a top top tier athlete, but honestly wouldn’t make sense with what UM is bringing in this year at WR (especially if what we think is coming happens). His frame has a lot of room to grow, think he could potentially be a very good hybrid TE.
TEs get lost in Dawson's offense.

To me, that's a flag. Not a deal breaker at that age bc physicality tends to come with age, but something to monitor. Some kids are wired to play LB.....some are not.

When i'm breaking down LB play, i want to see 3 things - instincts #1, with physicality and solid tackling. If LBs aren't physical, they tend to get glued to blockers, or give up yards upon tackling vs stopping a guy short. Now none of that matters if the guy lacks instincts and/or is always late getting to the ball.

JJ Smith had been dusting kids since he was a jit before his growth spurts. You don't just "learn" receiver in college man. Crazy talk. If it was this simple we would be targeting every fast 6'3 dude out
He already plays a lot of offense. His best plays are at Wildcat quarterback.

I don't think he'll be Jeremiah Smith. But there are plenty of hoopers/QBs who lock in as pass-catchers in college and pick it up. His size and athleticism give him an advantage.

We need Linebackers. We don't need receivers. We don't even need big receivers. We will have Moore, Wingo, maybe Wright next year. I just see this thread as evidence he is not enough of a dog to play LB. Hope I'm wrong.

If this kid is playing meaningful snaps at WR then Beard needs to be fired...............

Only thing the highlights show is a QB throwing to a kid that is 3-5 inches taller than everybody else. They are not even contested catches.
If he wants to put on 30 lbs and play TE maybe but should not be a WR
