Walk with me

If he were changed to TE, I’d be intrigued although I don’t know if we’re setting him up for success that way because w/ Gilbert back, and the prioritization being made in ‘28 @ TE, he could get lost in the sauce as the two freshmen we currently have are actually good. Maybe if Briggs transfers it’d be a reasonable replacement.

If we’re aiming for WR, that’s guaranteed for failure. We don’t rotate our WRs enough as it is and he is entering w/ possibly the best WR class ever (assuming Wright reclassifies and the talks of Sears playing on either side of the ball are substantive) while we have two larger WRs who’ve barely touched the field in Parris and Evans; while our prized get for that class has barely gotten on the field either in Wingo.

Might as well just tell him to find another school lol. Just wasting his time

Isn't this what Greentree is for?

Honestly we’ve been lacking elite athleticism at LB for so long I’d rather him at LB…especially with who we’ve already got committed and the possibility of Bryson Wright reclassing. I wouldn’t be upset if he’s that good that he gets moved but I am yearning for some ELITE lb play.

He’s a top top tier athlete, but honestly wouldn’t make sense with what UM is bringing in this year at WR (especially if what we think is coming happens). His frame has a lot of room to grow, think he could potentially be a very good hybrid TE.

damnit mane, he gonna miss one tackle now and people are gonna want him at WR or asking if he can play RG.

But I mean your general premise is correct. If you recruit an athlete, find his best fit. I remember hearing that LSU TE that switched to DE when Saban was coach (dude played for cowboys for like 10 years in the league, cant remember his name) and Saban basically told him to switch, he was a TF All Conference player at TE, recruited to play TE, wanted to play TE, when Saban told him to switch his true soph year he said he was transferring to Miami Saban then showed him NFL salaries DE vs TE and he went on to play DE and was fine. Of course you experiment and if he turns into a Becker or Smith then **** yes.

Bigger issue may be we have a STACKED WR room going into next year and need help with LB, if the staff wants to experiment we need more true LB then from a roster management standpoint.

Eh he may not have the flexibility to be a good receiver even if he’s good in a straight line on the track.

That insane track star receiver at South Carolina nick harbor still hasn’t the scratched the ceiling because he just lacks receiver skill
I'm not a track guy, so I pose this question to the many track guys on here:

How does hurdling translate for these bigger receivers? It's striking to me that there are two Top 5 pick talents this year with almost identical physical profiles.

I agree with this part. But what's his best position?
If his athleticism lets him become a difference maker at LB, the positional value is worth more to us at this point than another talented WR.

Now if you are going to assume his ceiling is higher than guys like Moore, Wingo, Parris then the conversation changes. I don't think he would have the ability to significantly raise the ceiling of the WR room, in the LB room he has that ability.

Turning the question to you...for comparisons/conversation sake lets say his ceiling is somewhere in between Becker and Smith, what if at LB it's Anthony Hill and Arvell Reese. What would you rather have on this team right now with the class coming in with Lennear, Sears, and Woodard

I would love to have Reese. But I don't really see the knockback and physicality of Reese. I do see some rare athletic stuff for a 6'3 kid.

Yeah Randle doesn't have that type of violence on film but his range could be a huge + on the field, interesting take on the pos change.

I get what you saying but the kid isn’t a wr
Why not? His background is quarterback, track and basketball.

IMO, his highlights look better on offense than defense. Doesn't mean he won't ultimately be better on defense, but I think it's a fair discussion.
He isn’t running any routes. He just a big athletic dude they use on offense. Harbor has elite track numbers but has wasted his career trying to be a wr

It's a projection. But LB is a projection, too.

I don't think he's ready-made at any spot.
