thats fair, he needs to add some weight though as an LB.He just a big dude with athleticism they use on offense. With the wrs we are recruiting I don’t think it’s any need to entertain it
The tape is that bad, huh?
"not necessarily". It's either yes or no.Not necessarily. I just noticed that the two best draft-eligible WRs in the country were both 6'3 hurdling champs in high school and pulled the comparisons.
But as I reported a couple weeks ago, we are trying to add more linebackers to this class. And Randle is an elite athlete.
Isn't this what Greentree is for?
“We did build this team to be sustainable for the years to come. We don’t stack talent behind each other. We actually, appropriately, select, and place guys in situations, and at positions, where they continually grow and develop. We like [that] we’re [now] postured to do that….“ == Mario Cristobal six months ago
If we have Cypher and Whiteside joining Glover soon, then the staff has identified LB as a spot that’ll be tough for Randle to succeed at. However, they still love the kid/family and athleticism + instincts. We need this athleticism at LB more than WR with respective commits coming in
Or safetyWalk with me here:
A big athletic LB that can cover is nice to have.
TEs get lost in Dawson's offense. He’s a top top tier athlete, but honestly wouldn’t make sense with what UM is bringing in this year at WR (especially if what we think is coming happens). His frame has a lot of room to grow, think he could potentially be a very good hybrid TE.
To me, that's a flag. Not a deal breaker at that age bc physicality tends to come with age, but something to monitor. Some kids are wired to play LB.....some are not.I’ll say this I like the athleticism but the physicality at LB is lacking. He isn’t scared of contact but you just don’t see him running through anybody. All his tackles are just arm tackles
He already plays a lot of offense. His best plays are at Wildcat quarterback.JJ Smith had been dusting kids since he was a jit before his growth spurts. You don't just "learn" receiver in college man. Crazy talk. If it was this simple we would be targeting every fast 6'3 dude out
We need Linebackers. We don't need receivers. We don't even need big receivers. We will have Moore, Wingo, maybe Wright next year. I just see this thread as evidence he is not enough of a dog to play LB. Hope I'm wrong. He already plays a lot of offense. His best plays are at Wildcat quarterback.
I don't think he will be Jeremiah Smith but there are plenty of hoopers/QBs who lock in as pass-catchers in college and pick it up. His size and athleticism give him an advantage.
