[MENTION=3355]WhatTheHell[/MENTION]: What did you say to D'no to set him off?

Now, that heckling's voice was a black dude, for sure. But it was either a black Cuban, a black Dominican, or Haitian fan. It was also with a bunch of other fans egging on hecklers and D'ono.

give me a break

Give you a break on which part? You don't think this is a bad situation? You don't think there are guys on the team who come from pretty rough situations and plan to use potential football careers to feed their families?

Which of the potential NFL/CFL players on this roster do you think won't be getting paid because of the staff?

I would assume McCord might be at the top of list. Armbrister came with low expectations and is on an NFL roster. I think guys will get their shots. They might not be afforded the chances that a 3rd and 4th round pick would get if they're UDFA or 6th and 7th round picks.

I love these posts every year. Here's a post from a discussion a couple years back:

This guy gets it!

We have at least 8 future NFL players in our 2-deep. And, only 1 is a True Frosh. If you'd like to make some kind of wager on that, let me know.

Lu, you ALWAYS pull out that ridiculous statement. Who are these so called NFL players? Second, every major college team has a 5-10 "nfl"? Is forston considered and NFL player because he is on a practice squad and get a few reps when players go down? There a few elite players on this team. Duke and coley are potential 1st round picks. You love Erick Flowers but I haven't seen him do anything yet that has me believing he is elite. The are three players on defense that have elite potential, AQM and deon bush. Perryman is a good player and probably will make a good NFL LB but he isn't elite. Tracey Howard is close but he is a pure cover corner, not very stout vs the run.

Notice that all of those players are either freshman or sophomores and 2 didn't play today?

But the lack of elite players is problem number 1. The bigger issue is we have HUGE holes ate certain positions and no depth. We claim we are more talented than every team but renfrow couldn't sniff field at UVA and he is ducking starting! Gaines, Cornelius, highsmith, Rodgers, Shayon, porter, Robinson are all not even at JAG level. They might, might start at lower tier div 1 teams.

That's what we are playing with. So you can talk your scheme bull**** up a tree...man, zone, disguising, stemming, blitzing, bla bla. You are limited in what you can do with the ****ty players we have. Plain and simple. End of story

No matter what, it seems that every year we have a group of posters, and yes I've saved past comments (so I can link if you're interested), who just want to put the onus on the players. Rinse and Repeat. I'm not saying we have the talent we had on last year's roster (even though people were arguing about it then, too), but it's still curious to me that many people can't wrap their heads around the fact that some players just look worse than what they should look.

I was actually asking who you think is hurt the most by the staff. Who will have tougher a time because they don't look as good as they should? The Miami name will get them looks but they're gonna lose draft status and money because they look worse than they should.

My bad. I'm riled up because I actually know guys over the years on these teams who've struggled their *** off and have a bunch of people relying on them. When they're ******, lazy or make mistakes that squander their own potential, they deserve what they get (nothing). When they generally do whatever they're asked, look less than what they could look, and lose out in the process, I think it's terrible. And, I don't pretend that Golden actually wants BAD for these kids. I don't make any personal statements about Coach Golden because many people have actually told me he's a decent enough guy. I'm talking about his staff's unwillingness to move to a more aggressive philosophy on a consistent basis, which ultimately makes some of our players look worse.

On this year's team:

- I think Chad Thomas, Mccord and AQM are all in line to look worse than what they should. Pretty much anyone on our DL, if we continue to go in this direction.
- I think Jenkins (especially) and Bush should look much better than they have. We'll see what changes over the season.
- Grace looks pretty good, but I think he can look excellent being asked to do some different things.
- I think Stacy Coley will likely continue to look like less of a talent than what he is (part of that has been his fault, the rest we'll see as the season goes on).

Will most of those guys get their "shot" like Chick and Gunter have? Sure. It's just a worse shot and they may leave some money on the table. That just bothers me. We should be making individual players look great so that they benefit, while the collective (team/program) benefits. If you can't figure out how to do that, I don't think you're being successful as a coach.

Your comments indicate you may have never had much (any?) interaction with a player who comes from real hardship and is expected to support their family. If you knew some of these guys, their potential, and what they put into it, you wouldn't be beating your chest from behind a computer screen downplaying some of the sacrifices they make.

Beyond that, your logic is as bad as our in-game coaching. You comment that "many players make it to the NFL every single year without being coaches by Nick Saban." Firstly, you're missing the point. Players come here because they're sold on the idea that we'll put them in the best position for them to grow into their potential. Regardless of who they're coached by, they're in a situation where they look worse than what they actually are. They can still make it to the NFL, but they'll have done so in a way that isn't optimal to their earning potential or to our program. If you disagree, you're also disagreeing with Coach Golden and many of our coaches. How do I know that? Because that's part of their pitch to recruits.

It's actually the opposite. I have more interaction with that type of kid than you could ever stomach on your own. These kids who you claim are "trying to feed their families" have game systems, DirecTV, cell phones, expensive clothes, etc. They don't have health insurance or a pillow, though, so the government labels them as "poor" and people on the outside believe that they are struggling through college football to one day feed their families.

As for their draft status, NFL scouts see talent way more than they see game results. Scouts know when a kid has talent. They aren't blinded by the lack of coaching.

Considering that's a big part of what I do with my life (now) and have done at every opportunity, I think you'd be surprised who I've come across and will continue to try to help grow. This **** matters a lot to me. And, when I see even a handful of kids leave some potential on the table, it sincerely bothers me. Again, whether they're football players, computer engineers, or just a kid with the potential to make some kind of leadership difference in his or her community.

Like I said above, I'm not saying Coach Golden is necessarily a bad guy or that his staff members are openly trying to hurt the kids in any way (in fact, I really think they're doing what they believe will work best for all involved). Doesn't change that many of these kids have bought in to a situation they believe would place them at their best. It hasn't looked that way up to now. I define that as "stuck." You can call it whatever you want. It's unfortunate.

Sounded like the heckler said "Enjoy your last year coaching here"

Also was that a guy in the stands yelling at the players "Let's go! Do your F'n jobs! Let's go you F'n Freaks!"

I hope people aren't yelling that at college kids.

Give you a break on which part? You don't think this is a bad situation? You don't think there are guys on the team who come from pretty rough situations and plan to use potential football careers to feed their families?

None of those guys are stuck in the middle of anything. There are plenty of jobs out there if they really need to "feed their families". Plenty of us feed our families without requiring an NFL paycheck.

I completely disagree. Not only are the players stuck in the middle of this mess, some who have the potential to make a good amount of money and come from terrible family situations came here, over other opportunities, to grow into their potential. Because this situation is what it is now, and because many of them look worse (or have already looked worse) than their actual talent level, they're losing potential money. For many of these kids, they came here to eventually get a job playing football. You're suggesting they just "find another job?"

You want guys who might be capable of making millions of dollars playing football to go get a "regular job" just because that's what some of us do? It seems to me you don't know a lot of our players, where they come from, or really care about what happens to people who've prepared for something their whole lives. I'd be upset for a **** computer science guy if his potential was being hindered by a crappy situation.

These guys live like kings. Free food, free place to live, access to educational resources not available to other students, etc. Let's not pretend that they are grinding it out just hoping to put food on the table someday. They are looking for the millions and the prestige that comes from playing in da league. If it was truly about "feeding their families", would they really spend four years watching their families starve while they play college football?

In any event, players make it to the NFL every single year without being coached by Nick Saban. So, like I said, these guys aren't "stuck". If they are NFL caliber players they will get drafted and get paid.

Asphinctersayswhat?

Butch Davis could take two-stars and they turned into ProBowlers.

No one did it better.

No one got more players in the NFL.

No one got his players more money than Butch Davis.

Butch Davis could turn two stars into Pro Bowlers but couldn't finish a season without losing at least once. Where do we sign up for that again.

He looked like a guy fed up, i went a couple of games when he was first on the field and me and a bunch of fans were saying stuff to him and he obviously heard didnt say or do anything now hes reacting to it, the guy has been criticized since day one and rightfully so

Gotta [hate it that] kirby's trying to hype up [the team] when he was the one hitting the wrong gap and missing tackles lmao

First, there were three different hecklers uttering stuff as the principals in the fiasco of ****ed up Miami fans going off.

1.) ****ed-off fan one was the initial muffler to call out that Kirby "sermon", "Hum Han"

2.) ****ed-off fan two, and the most prominent one, then responded by telling the under-performing Kirby screaming "***** this shlt [x 3]! Let's Go!" that he is the one that should just "SFTU", play the game, and just "Do your Phucking job"

3.) ****ed-off fan three, seeing the commotion getting some legs, and the arrival of a heated looking and staring Mark D'Onofrio, was like "Oh Shlt, [here comes] donoBRIO"

That's the one and biggest issue with the hecklers: They were telling "sorry playing" Kirby that he should "Shut the ***** up and play" and to just do "Ur phucking Job!" rather than giving sermons like he was some wanna be Ed Reed. The hecklers were ****ed with the sorry display of UM Defensive plays and attacking/heckling a PLAYER who "was the one hitting the wrong gaps and missing tackles".

Objectively, it wasn't that bad of a feat for "D'onoBRIO" to defend his boyz, and use that hecking "adversity to player" to rally his troops from the neck up. Is was further not hard for him to step up then, particularly as one fan (not the fan who was complaining for Kirby to STFU) ridiculed out Mark's last name as "OhHoh! here comes D'onoBRIO".

As soon as D'OnoBRIO was uttered, a whole clan of fans were inciting shlt, and the fans were all going in frenzy with "Awwww, as in rousing up a pit bull dog owner when he is reluctant to enter in a dog fight.

Objectively, the stark reality here is that such fiasco could easily be interpreted as Coach D'Onofrio defending his boyz, at worse as a cheap feat to rally his troops, and in conclusion, this is no coup de grâce for him.

That was some extensive fight recap, Larry Merchant. Thanks.

If ANYONE was saying anything vulgar to a player, THEY ARE THE PROBLEM. I didn't read through all the pages of this thread but I am ashamed that there are people out there yelling at kids like that. I don't know who the **** they think they are and under which set of morals they think that is ok. I get ****ed when a guy plays bad, I get ****ed when the coaches are bad. I hate losing more than I can handle. However, most of these kids are going pro in something other than sports. They do NOT deserve to be treated like that. If you guys actually think that is ok, no matter the situation at the U, then I am sorry for you. You have so little perspective it is scary. I have no idea what would make you think you would have the right to do or say those things... And please don't tell me its because you give money, **** I give my wife money, I don't talk to her disrespectfully... Thats just sad... Personally, I commend Coach for sticking up for his guys. You can tell the way he and kirby shook after that they recognized he was sticking up for them.... so spare me the bull**** that he was reacting to stuff about him....

man you people need to get a life. coach d says let the kids play. hows that turn into hes fed up ready to fight a fan? you guys are something else. stop looking for nonsense and enjoy the season.

Here's my thing...this was not even a big game and the team had to use this type of "passion" to get passed FA; FAU, ladies and gentlemen. The pressure is starting to make this team crack...it's obvious. You can say ignore all the noise all you want, but when you feel the need to respond to it, then obviously it's getting to you.

This team is one loss, one loss from shattering.

For all of the "fans" noting that the players are "standing up" for D'Onofrio have no clue howteam sports work. First off, McCord was the only one that said something, and that something was a simple, "STFU." Players will ALWAYS defend their coaches publically, ESPECIALLY on the intercollegiate level. This doesn't mean that they don't have doubts, or they don't question it...even when they leave, most of them still won't bad mouth their coach, b/c for many of these young men, coaches are the closest thing to a father figure for them, no matter how crappy they are.

If we lose to Nebraska this Saturday, if we lose to FSU in a couple of weeks...mark my words, this team will crumble and fall apart immediately.

Am afraid this situation becomes even worse as the season progresses and the losses continue. The administration should have known this would happen. It only takes a few liquored up fans to start a bad confrontation like this. People are sick and tired of this staph and its bungling, losing ways.
