Hmmmm Lingard still only 202? at 6'0 coming off injury I thought be around the 210-215 mark by now.

So first I'm against the portal, next I'm a groupie for one of the portal players. Good for you. Having depth or a plan B is a good thing. Having a "major hole" is something different.
The point is that needing that many roster additions for Diaz to have legitimate depth was the major concern.

Tommy Kennedy's lack of success at Miami reinforces my point by providing a stark contract with Osborn. Unlike Kennedy, Osborn has come in and impressed: in work outs, in scrimmages and the spring game, in team meetings, everywhere. If we were raving about all of the transfers, that would call into question whether we're just inflating our guys. But Osborn has distinguished himself.

There is a question as to how his game will translate, sure, but it's not "absolutely no idea". That's hyperbole. On the other hand, we have "absolutely no idea" how Hightower will develop. All of the hype around him is due to 1 single garbage time TD in week 1. With Osborn, we have a pretty good idea that he'll be at least a competent, 400+ yard type of receiver.
Spoke volumes that Diaz chose him to represent us at media days too.

He's Jason Geathers 2.0. And that's not a slight.

Jason Geathers was an all-world recruit who, when used correctly, was a beast.

If he gains weight he may lose a step. I’d keep him right there and just give him 6-8 touches a game and see if he can house one. Like a CJ Spiller build and he never gained but maybe 5-10 pounds out of high school. That’s always been my comp for Lorenzo

Hill is officially in & will be ready for Fall camp day 1 starting tomorrow.

Bolden, Huff & Phillips will be in within the next 2 weeks, unfortunately can't control the dates of these extra courses & Juco classes that take fckin forever to finish lol.

I know that's not going to stop yall from panicking because Canes fans are incapable of not panicking, but all 3 will be in & Bolden/Huff will good to go for the season.

Now back to regularly scheduled programming.

I don't see CJ spiller at all in Lingard. Cj had much more wiggle (to me) than Lingard does. My comparison was always Todd Gurley, a 1 cut down hill guy. Ppl must stop with the whole weight means you're slower way of thinking. If its good weight and added strength he wont lose any speed.

We can survive without Bolden and Huff against Florida.

Having those two games against BYE in September should help them.

Bringing back JT is a completely different story. That WAS filling a major hole (that he had left), I'd absolutely agree with that.

We have no idea who's going to start at QB, partly because Martell isn't clearly better than Perry/Williams, who are all learning a new system. I have no idea how else to say it, but these guys are not filling "major holes" if they haven't even proven themselves to be starters yet. If they start, then great, job well done, go beat the Gators. But they aren't these all-world players replacing walk-ons. The only one I'm actually "excited" about would be Tate, and that's only because of his dual-threat ability and the mismatches Enos could create for him. If I had to bet, I'd say he and Osborn would be the only ones out of the portal players starting on 8/24.

You don’t need to be a transfer from Alabama coming to dominate a position to fill up a hole. You can fill a hole by upgrading the competition at a position, by providing depth, by proving yourself the better player and winning the starting job.

Martell for me already filled a major hole because he lit a fire under Kosi and Williams and elevated the QB race. Bolden is already filling a major hole in giving us the ability to go 3 deep and avoid absolute disaster if one of Carter or Hall goes down. Chigozie has already proven himself in a 4-3 defense and provides much needed experience at a DT spot where guys don’t have a ton of snaps. Osborne instantly came in and started leading through example at a WR unit filled with nothing but young guys. All that without mentioning that every single one of those players can end up being the starter and upgrading the team by being the best at their position.

You may have been fine with entering the season bordering on 70 players including a handful of walk ons but thank ******* god Manny didn’t share your view point and instead went straight to work. In one of the ESPN interviews posted on here the other day he mentioned how pressing our needs were at certain positions and that's why we became a sensation with the portal.

Those listed weights ain’t all that accurate, tweed said lingard was 205 pounds and that was at the beginning of June. Here’s a pic of lingard from the start of June

You’re just agreeing with me and then making **** up. I agree that there was a lack of depth, but I don’t think the inability to go 3 deep at every position is something to freak the **** out about. Like I said, I’m glad they’re here to provide the competition, and hopefully they do win starting jobs.
