Uniforms

My choice would be addidas. They have some pretty impressive stuff in terms of Soccer gear, that I would find interesting if they crossed that over to football. We would essentially be one of the only high profile clients with Notre Dame being the other (correct me if I am wrong).

Notre Dame just switched over to Under Armour.

I doubt Under Armour would be too friendly with ACC schools at this moment since their best pals Maryland aren't exactly on good terms trying to leave the conference.

Stay with Nike, it's the most logical choice.

I would that, but unfortunetly, there is a hierarchy at Nike that goes something as follows: Oregon, Alabama, Ohio State, FSU, LSU, Michigan
You want to know what 4 out of 5 of those schools have in common, fan base #'s. Therefore, more value to Nike in terms of merchandise being sold. So while we like to think we are Miami, and we should this or that, truth is Nike has us by the balls and we can only do what they have time for us to do.
Then why were we THE flagship team in the late 90's/early 2000's that always had the newest templates that Nike could come up with? We may not be in the 6-team hierarchy you listed as of right now, but we're still one of the hottest brands in CFB. We'll only be hotter if/when we start winning on a lot more consistent basis again. Even struggling, we still sell a ****-ton of apparel/jerseys. We're still a big Nike program.

FYI--Michigan is an Adidas school.

Having said all that, would you guys be opposed to switching sponsorship companies? Possibly to Addidas, Reebok, or Under Armour?
No, but only if it were to UA. I believe their gear is higher quality and more football-oriented than Adidas/Reebok's. Adidas has focused more on international/olympic sports as well as soccer of course, and Reebok is leveraging themselves into more workout/CrossFit/running fitness apparel. Nike is still the best overall brand, though.

Neuter Dumb just switched from Adidas to UA. Adidas just lost Tennessee as well, starting in 2015 Tennessee will be back with Nike. Michigan is probably their biggest school, followed by Texas A&M, UCLA, Wisconsin, and Louisville.

True, but don't think that UA wouldn't jump at the chance to pickup Miami away from Nike if they could.

Don't know about that, Kevin Plank is HEAVILY invested in Maryland athletics and was a former Maryland football player. Maybe if he could get Miami on the cheap he would take them, but I can't see Nike letting a brand like Miami go for pennies on the dollar.

Miami is no longer contracted with Nike after this year. We will probably resign, but nothing is ever absolute. It is something to think about.

I would prefer having complete control over our identity and brand and going somewhere where we are top dog. We are not, have never been, and will never be top dog at Nike. Our fanbase (consumers) will never be able to rival the bigger schools.

Adidas makes the WOAT jerseys.

SMH at wanting them.

Addidas makes some badass futbol (soccer) uniforms. If they can take their clothing technology and apply it to a design that Miami is heavily handed in, I think it would be a good idea.

No way to Adidas. Stick w/ Nike even if Adidas or UA offer more. Nike = more sales to the avg consumer.

They're boring. Very old school Big Ten. We're not changing our font anyway so that has no chance.
This. If you think kids are gonna like that uniform, you're nuts. Fans liking them is a plus and important, but the kids are the ones that have to play in them. Unis are a draw for recruits, whether anyone wants to admit it or not. That's a fact. Some kids like the traditional Bama, some kids like the innovative Oregon. That's why we need multiple options.

As I've said before...what needs to be pushed for is for Nike to do something new that's clean/modern/inventive for the normal uniform worn for 85-90% of our games. The rest of the time, we should push for throwbacks like the styles we've had thru the 80's/90's/early 00's for special games, all in the new technology. Best of both worlds. Make white/black/team color cleats/socks available for any combination we choose...don't pigeon hole us into one color for that. Black cleats/socks may look badass with one uniform or to a set of people, but other colors might look better with other uniforms. No need to say we can only have one set.

It won't happen...but that'd be the best situation and would please pretty much everyone on some level.

So...which one are we?
Somewhere in between, if I had my druthers. I'd like to have enough combinations to where we could wear either the new unis or throwbacks for about 5 years running, and never wear the same uniform twice.

How Miami would it be able to say to a kid: "You know what? We're gonna wear whatever-the-fvck we feel like. Sometimes it's gonna be old school, sometimes it's gonna be the freshest uniform in the nation that no one's seen before. The rest of CFB can stick to 4-5 combinations or just a couple of throwbacks every 10 years...we have options for DAYS."

you do realize that Michigan is not with Nike right? Michigan is with Adidas & are getting +$8mil a year from them. Miami used to innovative in it's designs, but as the program becomes less successful, there's a reduction in media exposure & consequently, in branding. Look at Baylor now with their uniforms..Heisman qb +big wins = exposure & cool new "innovative" uniforms

Everybody wants jerseys from our glory years like that's gonna automatically make us better.

It'll only make what we're watching more painful.

What company would we be top dog with? Russell Athletic?

Jadeveon Clowney was talking to Puma about a big endorsement deal. Send an RFP to Puma see what they come up with.
