OP is on to something with his line of reasoning in the original post. As UM either has no money, or doesn't want to spend the money to extricate a current head coach from his contractual obligations, we can forget about anyone who is currently a head coach somewhere else. That leaves us with assistant coaches like Mario, Dud and Mike Shula as well as unemployed guys like Butch as candidates for this job.

Man....lol, they used the ADIDAS contract to help can Golden. Pretty funny.

The expenses are misleading b/c the football team (any team) "has to pay" the school tuition for the scholarships (85) they give out.

Its creative accounting that would make Enron and Worldcom blush to avoid the reality that the athletic programs at the power 5 conferences make mucho dinero.

Perhaps if the administration hadn't given a big FU to the fans by retaining Folden after he tried to bolt for Ped State and hired a real coach who won games, the revenue wouldn't be so pathetic. IJS

While I will agree that UM could have made more, I hardly think $77 million in revenue for one of the smallest athletics depts in the ACC is pathetic. It's actually impressive.

Hard to disagree. Larranaga has managed to elevate the Basketball side of things and the Baseball brothers took it to Omaha. There should be some progress in the revenue side of things, particularly if a non weed-eater bowl is achieved and the AD can manage a quality hire.

A decade of mediocrity can't compete with multiple professional sports franchises. The school really missed out on an opportunity to capitalize on the Dolphins, Marlins and Panthers being equally weak. The Heat certainly capitalized.

The AD does virtually nothing to improve its online presence, there's no coaches show and Hurricane Hotline has been reduced to hiding @ the Rat interviewing a shoe designer and head injury doctors.

With all respect to Blake, it wouldn't be a bad idea for the BOT to use the current situation to upgrade the AD position.

The Fact that Clemson has the same revenue as us and yet they have a great staff, head coach, and are winning tells you all you need to know.
