Ocala you said it, we havent won a bowl game and been relevant since 06, these HS seniors were 8 yrs old then, loyalty will land few, winning will land many

THIS!!!! This is what a lot you older cane fans need to realize.. These kids don't give a **** about all that stuff you keep pitching to them.. These kids grew up watching Jacory, Kyle wright, Kirby freeman and Robert Marve throw picks and UF winning championships. Fsu having top classes and a great atmosphere and the SEC being dominant. They are 16,17,18.. MOST of them dont care about the history of Miami because all they know is miami being a mess over the past 10 years.

The truth hurts.....the fact that we have such a rich history makes this hurt worse.

I think this is a little harsh of a view. the same could have been said for OSU pre tressel or bama pre saban or usc pre carroll..even the greatest programs hit blips but our history is part of our dna and there are only a few programs in our class. sure we need to do better and it would help but never forget what we accomplished is always a factor.

Tressell was a national championship coach before OSU. Pete Carroll was an NFL HC and championship DC. Saban won a national title at a BCS school.

Those guys were elite coaches. Al Golden is an elite recruiter, but he can't coach a lick, and he's lost his momentum. Same exact thin as Randy.

I was with you until you wrote the bold part. You can't lose Sony, Cook, Lane, Rudolph, Pierce, Harris, Powell, Dixon, Clark, and probably Valentine from your own south Florida backyard and call Fat Albert an "elite" recruiter. He has to get at least half of the aforementioned guys to be considered elite. If he doesn't make a calculated move to get Coley on staff, we probably don't land Yearby either. Elite my ***!

Golden and staff need to stay focused on 2014, and closing strong with players like TV, JC, and anyone else we got a chance with. Now that doesn't mean we shouldn't be given these 2015 kids no attention at all, no, but either way the letters and coach visits mean jack if you don't win.. Best way with these kids is to catch their attention, not give them attention sometimes.. So win, attract attention, and SFL recruiting should take care of itself.

Remember when Golden said that he wanted 80% of the team to be from Florida?

Well, yeah, it sucks that we lost Michel. But that's what happens when you have a sh1tty product that doesn't win anything. So of course he'd go and find easier guys to get. Randy did the same thing! And that is how you get fired at UM.

I see what you're trying say but at the same time, despite losing guys like Phony, Lame, Crook, etc., upon the completion of this class, we have the talent to win big. Especially as these young guys develop, we absolutely have the talent to go punch for punch with the big boys.

I say this mostly because our recruiting in the trenches (with the exception of DL last year...) has been very, very solid. OL class this year is top 3 in the nation (only behind Bama imho), and I'd stack our DL class this year up with the best of them as well (assuming, hoping, and praying valentine returns). Our recruiting in the trenches with the addition of playmaking studs sprinkled in is going to allow us to field a very competitive team. Duke, Yearby, coley, Braxton, herb, and the rest of our playmakers are going to put points up.

If Williams, Kaaya, or Olsen can step up and we have a capable QB for the first time in forever, we are going to have a very competitive team.

This is So FL, not AL or OH. Those states live and eat those football programs. We have a glorious 30 year history nobody can match, but it is only 30 years. Throw in the fact that So Fl residents are not exactly fixed in concrete and the whole atmosphere is event driven and you get short memories. OSU and Bama fans get buried in cofins with school colors. They only thing today So Fl kids know is the 30 for 30 movie. Some are more rooted in THE U than others, and those we have better shot at. Al does need to find a way to win more and bigger to have bigger footprint. This class is excellent. It is great if he gets TV back. Sure it would have been great to grab another great RB and a couple of the WRs but it didn't happen. Tons of talent in this class. It needs to be put to use effectively for convincing, exciting wins. That will and greater number of stars next year.

Hey, if Rumph has an issue with Golden or the staff, then take it up with them personally. Be a man. Don't tweet some negative BS as signing day approaches.

He didn't tweet anything... Manny did... Manny asked a few questions and tweeted his responses... And if Rumph did tweet something it doesn't make him less than a man to tweet his observation...

Oh, that's even better, he's using Manny and the local rag to broadcast his complaints with Al and his alma mater. Stay classy.

No its NOT the "exact" thing as Randy. Shannon was flat out clueless and his work ethic was suspect. After that first year, the effort went into nosedive and got worse progressively in recruiting every year, culminating with the disaster of what he had when he was fired. We had NOTHING locked up when AG came in.

Say what you want, but AG and staff are working their @SSES off. They have landed some **** good players from all over the country. These guys arent slacking. They may not be able to close on everyone the want, and frankly, NO ONE does, but that will get better if we start winning more.

The BIGGEST and fairest criticism of AG and this staff is that it IS primarily a staff of recruiters. It needs more seasoned X and O guys on it. But I dont understand why its suddenly this big joke that AG sucks because all he can do is recruit. Butch's strength was recruiting too, talent eval to be specific, but he was a pretty mediocre gameday coach. I think if we can get some better X and O guys on staff, to go with the talent they are bringing in, it will have us back in the top 10 consistently and competitive at the top levels again.

But you simply CANNOT say that AG and Shannon are the "exact" same. Its actually the OPPOSITE. Shannon started out GREAT in recruiting, and then nosedived. AG's first class was as trainwreck because Shannon left us nothing. Its actually been getting BETTER every year, not worse. This is the opposite of Shannon's recruiting.

Time to bash Mike Rumph.

A I think its some truth to the rumur that Miami don't recruit south Florida hard... this program is stuck and we need to take it to another level because these south Florida kids are not feeling Miami at this point and I don't blame them... damm it seem like we recruit other States harder then our own
