You're right, but its not like the effort and money isn't there either. It's tough.
Beard did a pretty good job with a bunch of 3 and 4 star receivers (yes we had Cam Ward, but they were good with TVD as well).
If that were the only factor, why are any recruits going to UF? They've been bad for a few years with no real future. They're still in Florida and they're in the SEC.
We're in a second tier conference, it sucks to hear but, it is what it is.
Until were just always in the ACC Championship Game with Clemson every year, then maybe, but until then its easier to recruit if you're in the SEC.
I think there’s gonna have to be a progression that occurs…. Get 3 & 4 stars drafted in the top 60 picks, which will then get us closer to landing the 5 star WRs
The WR position, in a vacuum is tough, Bama has even dropped off some, and Ohio St is the gold standard for the position because they currently have every box checked
- offensive minded HC
- Stud position coach that produced in college and the NFL, with a track record of getting guys drafted in the 1st Rd
- fairly simple spread offense that highlights the WR group
- they’ve recruited QB well for many years
- BigTen conference
- school that was already playing the bag game even before NIL
- consistent playoff caliber level team
I know it sucks, but Miami did this to itself and has a giant whole to dig out of, at the WR position AND CB position…. Which seems insane considering Miami’s geography
The likes of Illinois (DBs) and Washington (WRs) have consistently produced more nfl take talent than us…. And not with 5 stat talent…. Miami needs to get to this level first and then the 5 star guys will be easier to attain
Also, if Nickel or Coleman hit and show early success, watch WR recruiting pick up… we’ve seen it with both HS and transfer recruiting that having a known commodity at QB, At critical times throughout the respective recruiting seasons, matters
