Treon Harris on campus

I don't want to deal with Ice's bull**** and retaliation when he gets moved to the slot.

Here's what Auburn says *Harris wants to play quarterback, but he's willing to change positions if that doesn't work out. Florida State still has a significant lead for Harris' services, but the Tigers have closed the gap a bit.**

I think Harris commits after this weekend.. If Golden offered him at QB in the spring he would already be here and recruiting other guys.. He NEVER said he wasn't open to playing DB he just wanted a shot at QB.. Nic Marshall left UGA because he wanted to be a QB not safety and he led 3-9 Auburn to the NC the next year with the worst defense ever fielded in a NC game. And they blew a 3 td lead..

marshall left uga because he was kicked out for stealing from his teammates

And the coaches wanted him back to play safety..

We need to start playing the game. I don't care if a kid wants a scholarship for his grandma, just say yes, get him on campus and worry about the rest later. Most of these kids just want a shot and will gladly switch positions if it meant getting on the field sooner. Hope this is the last time we hear our staff not wanting to give a kid a shot at a position.

i think if he really in his heart wants to play qb he goes to FSU to be coached by jimbo regardless to how much you don't like jimbo you have to give him credit for his developing of qb and getting them to the league

IMO the question is does he really see himself as an NFL qb. If he does he goes to FSU, Auburn will have him running some wishbone **** and he will never develop. Cam and Kap can do that look at the measurables. Not Treon. If he wants to make a payday out of this come to the U.

Treon Harris was the best high school player I saw last year. The Russell Wilson of South Florida.

Is he going to be a great college quarterback? That remains to be seen. But some legendary quarterbacks were recruited as DBs. Get him on campus and figure it out.

Yes!!!

I saw him here in Vegas, a good small QB, just don't see him beating out the other QB's we have. But I guess you never know.
He is a QB until he proves he's not. The kid beat the best with his ARM all year long. He improved more in the last two seasons at his position than anyone I can remember. Don't underestimate his natural gifts. Kids legit. imho

I think the ones on our roster, and the ones coming in. Need to 1st prove that they are somebody. This cat could come in, and just make all doubters, and so called guru's look sheepish.
remember when Robinson would never be a good qb? Michigan got so dam lucky… to small and all the other stuff. Awesome college qb. I wish Morris was more like Harris.

Harris is a beast forget his stature... This isn't some playground qb just tossing it up... The kid can play... Whoever gets him is getting an elite qb...

I'm not convinced Treon will be an elite QB at the next level, but he sure as **** is at the HS level, and if we can chase Taylor Cook, Kirby Freeman or Cannon Freaking Smith hoping they will be effective college QB's we sure as **** should have been chasing a local stud QB like Treon at the position. He has the "it" factor as a QB. Obviously if he's 6'2 200 lbs it's a no-brainer. At his size he might not cut it at QB but you definitely take the chance with him, and we should have been offering him as a QB from the beginning. He's a good football player and he will play for you somewhere. It's not like you are wasting a scholly like we did with Talyor Cook or Cannon Smith. Question. Does anybody think he projects well as a RB at the next level? He's awesome with the ball in his hands. Great wiggle, and seems to have good vision and speed based off his highlight video. Not ideal size wise, but no smaller than Brandon Powell or D'Ernest Johnson. Only negative I come up with is he would project better at the NFL level at DB, and might prefer playing defense for that reason. Again this is assuming he doesn't cut it at QB.

Lulz at most of you saying what I've been screaming for a yr now.

How the **** do you extend a scholarship to Gray Crow and not even offer Treon as a QB.

This class could of looked completely different with him recruiting for us

I forgot about Gray Crow. That's how much of an impact he's had.

Harris will never play QB at UM. So unless the young man wants to play corner or WR, I don't waste a scholarship on him...

i say give the kid a shot at QB, then if things dont work out change his position

I'm in the camp that FSU used him to get back into So FL after they lose Coley and the rest of Dumbo's staff. That said, we have seen that certain recruits are worth their weight in gold with other recruits. Treon is one of those and a **** of a baller to boot. If Al is comfortable with the Ice factor, I say take him, and give him his shot. If kid can beat Olsen and Kaaya out, then we might have one **** of a QB. I like Williams, Olsen and Kaaya but all could fall on their faces, so having another talented option is a good thing. Like Olsen, he is a coach's son. That is usually a good thing, unless that is the only reason he got to play QB. Treon took BTW to HS NC, and can play other positions if he fails. Absolutely worth the shot.

I'm with you... No one has answer to your question. We make up lame excuses such as, "Ice will be a distraction", "he's a spread qb" and "he's too short"... Neither of the 3 qbs have proven anything and I haven't seen a qb this accurate since Teddy... Actually his maturation as a qb is similar to Teddy and if he goes somewhere else it'll be similar to Teddy's tenure at UL... The kid is hungry and out to prove something...

No we're not on Treon because of FSU. His body of work speaks for itself. Treon is an elite athlete and just led his high school team to a mythical national title. I give zero f*cks what the holes are doing in recruiting him or not.

Not for nothing, but If Treon is the Qb of the future, why is FSU letting him come down here without a fight? He's been visiting other places, rumors flying about him "thinking" and "trying to decide", and yet you really dont hear much about the FSU staff swamping the kid and trying to lock him down the way other staffs are. The Bama staff supposedly going at Bo this morning, LSU staff actually taking OVs with kids to Cali, LSU staff camped out several times this week at TVs house.

I just dont get the feeling that FSU is really stressing too much over losing Treon.

Maybe they offered him to get in with the other south florida recruits.

That's kind of the feeling Im getting. And once they did, they stopped showing him the love. I think he and Ice picked up on it and started looking around. What concerns me is, EVERYONE jumped on the Treon/QB bandwagon because of FSU. Before that, neither UF nor our staff felt he was going to be a QB at the next level. Everyone sort of came around late in the game, and I suspect it may have been as much local politics as anything else. Honestly, if Treon wasnt from Miami, I dont see us offering him at Qb, not with as long as they held out.

I will be happy if we get him, as he's a talented kid, and we can use talent. But Im not without concern over any potential QB controversies here. Im also a bit concerned on wether Kaaya knows we are still this hard after Treon, and what effect it could have on him. IMO, Kaaya is the "Franchise" in this class. I just dont want any nasty surprises.

Gray Crow was a body we took because we needed bodies and Shannon left us high and dry. Let's not act like Crow was some kid was at the top of our list. He was clearly a project but had the measurables.

I agree Treon should be a take, he's a great athlete. But it's not without some concern over the QB issue. We don't run a read option at UM. How the **** are we going to teach a kid who is 5'10-5'11 to sit in the pocket behind an OL that is going to average at least 6'5. And his arm isn't very strong either.

Kid is a great athlete but there is a reason many programs were very hesitant to offer him at QB and there is a reason FSU doesn't seem like its losing a lot of sleep with him looking around.
