Tracy Howard

Here come Folden's vultures looking to scavenge the players. Howard is yet another 5 star to go missing in Folden's 5 star graveyard.

Howard looked like a blanket most of the game. Folden can't seem to figure out a way to generate a pass rush even with a DL full of monster talent.

What 5 star graveyard is that? We are lucky we get one 5 star a year. Look you can't complain about player development with every player. Did you complain about Walford being developed? Or Armbrister? Linder? Dorsett? Howard might just not be good enough. I don't have an issue with player development as much as I don't think he has any clue how to put together a freaking winning game plan. Its ridiculous given our overall talent. But one player not developing to full potential? That happens in alot of places. For every Howard that doesn't get better, a Gunter does. Sometimes guys are rated wrong.

for every walford, there are 5 howards.[/QUOY

sure there are.

for every walford, there are 5 howards.

We put 10 kids in the league last year so player development isn't the issue. Using the players correctly is the issue.

What about Chad Thomas?

Chad Thomas really is a five-star talent, so it would be an indictment on the staff if we don't get five-star production out of him before he goes to the NFL.

But Tracy Howard is garbage and it's all on him?

wtf?

Nowhere did I say he was garbage. Read my post. I said he's a quality third corner behind Burns and Elder. On many other teams, he'd be a starter.

He's just not a five-star talent, and if you expect him to perform like that you will be disappointed.

That kid was ballin on Saturday!

You guys must watch a different game than me. It's tough to be a corner with zero pressure on the QB.
Honestly I thought he played well also. He also almost had an INT but I forget which player jumped in front of him and didn't make the catch. I remember seeing Howard play well on quite a few plays.

Macho, you stalking me looking for arguments? The point of the post is when you are strong in one area and go somewhere where you never build upon it, you will eventually decline in that ability because it will not be familiar anymore. I agree you should be strong in both if you are expected to be an elite corner. If he couldn't improve his cover skills, then maybe he was never going to be an elite corner, but these coaches have rarely used these guys to their strengths and 4 years later he's looking weak in all areas.

I'm not stalking you looking for arguments, you just say some outlandish ****.

If the only thing you excel at is press-man then guess what...YOU'RE NOT AN ELITE CORNER.

They've used him in press-man, cover-2, cover-4, cover-3, etc. We do it all. Maybe he's just not that good? Could that be a possibility?

Press-man is the hardest thing to play. If you think he gets beat now then put him in press-man all day and then talk to me.
By all means please give me the breakdown in totals and percentages of all the coverages we've run since golden has been here. I never said we don't ever run it. I said most of the time we're putting our guys way off the receivers expecting them to have success. There's a reason we get killed with the same runs up the middle and short passes all day or maybe you forgot games like Maryland, unc, and wake forest where they ran the same play over and over and over and somehow we couldn't stop it even though it was obvious to everyone except al what was happening. I never said Howard was or would be an elite corner. I also never said that a kid fresh out of high school would dominate in his area of strength without proper coaching. I said that he needed to develop his strength and be good at something rather than ignore it and be good at nothing.

There's nothing outlandish about anything I've said when it's a known factor or do you plan on calling out everyone on this very site who has made a similar statement, because I sure as **** don't see you saying that to anyone else who says the same thing. Not sure what you keep getting butt hurt over, but you continuously try to find my post to make a statement when I'm saying the same thing as many others and you stay silent. Either way, I'm not going to argue over it with you. Wasted way too much time arguing the other things with you and I don't have that kind of time, because you have your opinion and I have mine. Refuse to waste my time researching for my statement to watch someone come back with "someone told me..." or "I didn't read it because then I'd actually have to answer the question". That **** is outlandish and lazy and you lost a lot of credibility to me. That's the kind of responses i expected from niner, but not you. Feel free to post that breakdown by game I'll continue to wait on that breakdown just like I waited for a link to your oline grades.

1. Why would there be a link to the O-line grades? You do know that I coached Feliciano in high school, right? Either myself or our head coach would talk to him after just about every game and would ask him how everybody graded out. Why the **** does every statement someone makes need some kind of link?

2. Here we go again, asking for more proof. How 'bout I don't have proof of our coverages, I JUST KNOW WTF I'M TALKING ABOUT! How's that for proof? How 'bout I've sat in a personal film session with D'Onofrio and have seen all of the coverages we run. How 'bout I'm a Defensive Coordinator and can watch Miami and tell what coverages we're running. Do you see me asking you for proof of your statement that we somehow are ruining Howard's career? Where's the proof of that?

3. You should know better than to assume that I'm picking on you. I respond to any and every asinine statement on here, regardless of who makes it. It's called being opinionated and DISAGREEING.

4. Watch the film. We're never 10 yards off of receivers. There is no coverage in existence that has a CB line-up 10 yards off. Cover-2 is roughly 5 to 7 yards off of the WR, outside alignment. Cover-3 is a 7x1 (inside) alignment. Quarters coverage, same thing. (since you wanna get all technical) Press-man is harder than anything else so how in the **** can he possibly excel at press-man on this level if he can't excel at the other coverages?

Finally...

The reason I felt compelled to respond to your original statement is mainly because I'm a coach and I get annoyed by such asinine statements from people who really have no clue WTF they're talking about. I imagine there's someone like you in the stands of every game I've ever coached, sitting there using some crazy logic to explain the result of every play. I hear it in the stands all the time when I go to Miami games. "We played cover-2 on that play! That's why that happened!"

The problem you have is, you don't know how to just stand back and listen. You'll actually sit here and argue with someone who knows more than you. Maybe it's a pride thing, I don't know. I'm not like that so I can't relate. I wouldn't go back and forth with Nick Saban or anybody that was a "higher rank" than me for that matter. I wouldn't argue with an accountant about finances. I wouldn't argue with a dentist about dental hygiene.

It takes a special kind of person to ague with someone that THEY KNOW is more knowledgeable than them in the subject at hand. I don't open my mouth unless I'm pretty sure of what I'm saying. I'm not telling you **** that I THINK, I'm telling you **** that I KNOW. Much different than what you're doing, which is making assumptions. You're "THAT GUY" in the stands.

My pride is not evidenced by links and articles from people who likely know a lot more than you, but I'm sure espn and cbs are only interviewing towel boys instead of nfl scouts and coaches and you know everything there is to know. I give you credit when it's deserved. I let the spread thing die because you are more knowledgeable than me there, but it's obvious you got bias and feelings caught up here. If I knew Feliciano was your boy I would just stopped there, because there is nothing else that could be said to you. Nothing against Feliciano but the narrative on him never changed. He was a solid player and became what many expected. Washington at one time was considered a very good player and then at some point after golden got here, people forgot that.

As far as asking for proof, it's because that's how you convince people. Anyone on this board can say they just know, but I'm supposed to take your biased feelings at their word. Just because you and coach d are best friends now and he broke down the film he wanted to show you, he can do no wrong now. Last time i checked you had lots of preseason knowledge about our defense and blackvern called you out as wrong once the games started. As far as my proof, it's the **** show we watch every week. Which brings up the next point.

The Washington argument was not the popular one, but despite current feelings, what was being said at that time vs what is being said now are 2 different stories and so I needed to provide that evidence to remind people. That's not pride. That was a fact. This argument on the other hand is something that has been at discussion on this board for the last 5 years. Why are you just now defending it when I make a post? You have a whole lot more defending to do against more than just me if you truly are calling everyone out, but that won't happen. Saying my statement was asinine would be fine if I was the only one saying it, but you got a whole lot more people to address than just me, but you won't.

You make me laugh because you say I assumed when every time we do this, you assume I'm saying something that I never said. You keep stating I think Howard is or should be elite. Never said it. You made a lot of assumptions about my Washington argument that I never said. You try to steer the discussion away from the original point.

This is really the most important part and when you lost the credibility. You think I'm the guy in the stands who doesn't know, but you are the guy who will look at facts on paper and ignore them because they don't support your bias. It takes a special kind of guy to ignore facts and evidence. You are "THAT GUY".

If im so asinine, by all means ignore me. I got into it with niner once and I had a full page of stats to make my argument. He also said im not going to read and could never provide evidence of what he "knows". At that moment its not even worth the time. You became a niner who actually has knowledge, but you got pride and bias too. I'll continue to give you credit where it's due, but I move forward knowing you will defend your bias without evidence.

WTF are you talking about, dude?! What stats have I ever ignored? Random write-ups from "expert analysis" on Washington and Feliciano? (one of which was written by some fan) How 'bout my facts? The line grades that I heard about every weekend aren't facts? Why? Cause I'm a biased coach? My opinion on Feliciano vs. Wasington has nothing to do with bias and everything to do with the fact that FELICIANO IS BETTER AND HAS ALWAYS BEEN BETTER. (hence the reason he usually graded higher and was also drafted higher by people who know a lot more than you about linemen)

As far as the Howard debate, you provide zero facts. You say (or insinuate) that we misuse him and that he's a press Corner. Ridiculous statement. We play every coverage in the book at Miami. The kid has his ups and his downs, a lot of those "downs" are when he's in press-man coverage!!! He happened to be a little overrated coming out of high school. Is that a crazy idea? Would it be the first kid that was overrated coming out of high school?

I have already stated my opinion on this issue before, not only to you, but in general.

LOL @ "he's a press corner". Kid is under 5'11" 190lbs and all of a sudden he's a press specialist.

Tracy tends not to find the ball in man coverage. typically when he makes a play its in zone coverage when he can have eyes on the quarterback. He is a good player, not great, I don't believe he is some man cover corner. It doesn't appear he plays with much confidence in man. The last Nebraska TD, that pass was a duck, should have been an easy pick. he was there, never looked. The strange thing about this game was we did a lot of good things on defense, a lot of guys made plays and contributed. Ultimately losing contain on the quarterback really hurt us, especially down the stretch. Losing contain will always break down a defense. Undisciplined pass rush whether we rushed four or blitzed.

Yep Tracy Howard was the #1 corner in his recruiting class and had 4 INT's a couple years ago but he's a ******* bum.....not the corches..........

You guys are legit ********.

This. He earned that 5-star tag and he balled in his freshman year. He obviously isn't comfortable in this scumbag D'nofrio's scheme.

He didn't ball his first year. The white receiver from BC ate him up in his first game. You are just fan of his. He hasn't even been a starter most of his career. Most really good corners are starters by their second season. Hargraves and Burns to name a few.

Like I said before, not going to waste time providing anything for you, because it was a waste of time the last time. I'm the only one who has provided any evidence outside of our own thoughts in any of our discussions. Anyone can say whatever they want online and who is going to prove you wrong unless they got some evidence to back their statement? I told you before I would've respected your opinion, but you've proven to choose what you want to believe despite provided evidence that it did in fact occur whether you acknowledge it or not. The **** I posted from fans were specifically to show you what the common feel from fans were at the time, because people seem to have short memories, but since you didn't read anything, you wouldn't know that. I'm sure those "randoms" that ESPN and CBS talk to don't know anything. It's amazing that they don't ask you for interviews. NFL should just hire you right now.

It's amazing after plainly stating it multiple times that you still cannot comprehend what I was saying about Tracy, but as I said before you continuously try to turn the discussion into something I didn't say. I'm pretty sure I plainly said I didn't think he was elite now or that he was elite coming straight out of school, but you keep going with that. I'm pretty sure I never said he was a specialist at anything. Being a specialist would mean you are highly skilled in a specific area. I just said that was his strength coming out of school, not that he was a specialist. Maybe that's the problem is you've never actually understood the statement being made and you continue to argue things that aren't being argued. I don't need facts for this one, because I could care less about trying to convince you of anything at this point. How about we stop cluttering the thread because this is a conversation that is going to go nowhere.

if you dont got speed at corner your gonna get burned plain and simple tracy dont have it

Guess how I know that you're an idiot?

it takes a real genius to find the best corner in league and use that as the comparison.....congrats, you are the man.

Just the fact's ma'am.

How tall is Richard Sherman?

He was talking about speed not size. I just pointed out the facts.

Richard Sherman doesn't need to run a 4.4 forty. He's 6'3" and plays primarily Cover-3.

Nothing like Howard.

I'm gonna ask the same thing I ask every time this subject comes up...

HOW CAN A DC RUIN A CORNER'S CAREER? HOW CAN A DC MAKE A CORNER LOOK WORSE?

I didn't get an answer last time I asked this question so let's see what happens today.

Don't even bother bro.

Lol we're comparing 6'3" 4.58 monster Richard sherman to 5'10" 4.52 non monster tracy howard. Only this board.

If used correctly, it doesn't really matter.
