Howard was playing very well this year up until that 4th quarter collapse on Saturday. We were out over pursuing and angry emotion. (Funny cause people want us to be aggressive but their was no calm composure, lot of guys were blowing their assignments) Need to be composed.

There is 9 games to go, I'm sure Howard will be fine.


And someone mentioned Coley in this thread. You're a doof, do you realize how much they limited his snaps against Nebraska? There was no need to play him at all if he wasn't ready to play. If you were at any practice or scrimmage you would know Coley at bare minimum would be our #2 option right now. The injury game 1 was bad luck but there is a long season ahead.

I'm glad someone finally can see he was getting toasted in the 4th. That has nothing to do with coaching.

He played great the first part of the game. I was thinking that maybe he finally was going to play up to his recruiting hype. Then he went back to playing terrible like he did last year and earlier this year. In the FAU game Howard seemed to be the go-to target for the FAU QB, who completed a lot of his passes throwing in Howard's direction.

They might be lower rated but corn and burns were still consensus 4sta top 200 recruits in the nation. Howard has played pretty good and it's not like he is getting beat because of speed. He has greatly improved in that aspect. He is in perfect position every time. He could have caught pick if he turned around at the end though. Jamal Carter also leaped and potentially denied a pick from him in the game as well. Tracy Howard is one of my favorite players on the team. He's a cane and I'm glad he came to miami

Carter should get more crap than tracy he messed up way too much, after rewatching the game he was still flinching to make plays, on one of the TDs you see him flinching then making the play, that couple of seconds of him doing that cost us a TD, i believe we were in cover 1 for that play with a corner blitze, hes gotten a little better but you still see him hesitating and making bad decisions on the ball or what to do

A CB should be able to play all coverages not just press-man. And we play everything here.

The point of the post is when you are strong in one area and go somewhere where you never build upon it, you will eventually decline in that ability because it will not be familiar anymore. I agree you should be strong in both if you are expected to be an elite corner. If he couldn't improve his cover skills, then maybe he was never going to be an elite corner, but these coaches have rarely used these guys to their strengths and 4 years later he's looking weak in all areas.

They've used him in press-man, cover-2, cover-4, cover-3, etc. We do it all. Maybe he's just not that good? Could that be a possibility?

Press-man is the hardest thing to play. If you think he gets beat now then put him in press-man all day and then talk to me.

By all means please give me the breakdown in totals and percentages of all the coverages we've run since golden has been here. I never said we don't ever run it. I said most of the time we're putting our guys way off the receivers expecting them to have success. There's a reason we get killed with the same runs up the middle and short passes all day or maybe you forgot games like Maryland, unc, and wake forest where they ran the same play over and over and over and somehow we couldn't stop it even though it was obvious to everyone except al what was happening. I never said Howard was or would be an elite corner. I also never said that a kid fresh out of high school would dominate in his area of strength without proper coaching. I said that he needed to develop his strength and be good at something rather than ignore it and be good at nothing.

There's nothing outlandish about anything I've said when it's a known factor or do you plan on calling out everyone on this very site who has made a similar statement, because I sure as **** don't see you saying that to anyone else who says the same thing. 1. Why would there be a link to the O-line grades? You do know that I coached Feliciano in high school, right? Either myself or our head coach would talk to him after just about every game and would ask him how everybody graded out. Why the **** does every statement someone makes need some kind of link?

2. Here we go again, asking for more proof. How 'bout I don't have proof of our coverages, I JUST KNOW WTF I'M TALKING ABOUT! How's that for proof? How 'bout I've sat in a personal film session with D'Onofrio and have seen all of the coverages we run. How 'bout I'm a Defensive Coordinator and can watch Miami and tell what coverages we're running. Do you see me asking you for proof of your statement that we somehow are ruining Howard's career? Where's the proof of that?

3. You should know better than to assume that I'm picking on you. I respond to any and every asinine statement on here, regardless of who makes it. It's called being opinionated and DISAGREEING.

4. Watch the film. We're never 10 yards off of receivers. There is no coverage in existence that has a CB line-up 10 yards off. Cover-2 is roughly 5 to 7 yards off of the WR, outside alignment. Cover-3 is a 7x1 (inside) alignment. Quarters coverage, same thing. (since you wanna get all technical) Press-man is harder than anything else so how in the **** can he possibly excel at press-man on this level if he can't excel at the other coverages?

The reason I felt compelled to respond to your original statement is mainly because I'm a coach and I get annoyed by such asinine statements from people who really have no clue WTF they're talking about. I imagine there's someone like you in the stands of every game I've ever coached, sitting there using some crazy logic to explain the result of every play. I hear it in the stands all the time when I go to Miami games. "We played cover-2 on that play! That's why that happened!"

The problem you have is, you don't know how to just stand back and listen. You'll actually sit here and argue with someone who knows more than you. Maybe it's a pride thing, I don't know. I'm not like that so I can't relate. I wouldn't go back and forth with Nick Saban or anybody that was a "higher rank" than me for that matter. I wouldn't argue with an accountant about finances. I wouldn't argue with a dentist about dental hygiene.

It takes a special kind of person to ague with someone that THEY KNOW is more knowledgeable than them in the subject at hand. I don't open my mouth unless I'm pretty sure of what I'm saying. My pride is not evidenced by links and articles from people who likely know a lot more than you, but I'm sure espn and cbs are only interviewing towel boys instead of nfl scouts and coaches and you know everything there is to know. The Washington argument was not the popular one, but despite current feelings, what was being said at that time vs what is being said now are 2 different stories and so I needed to provide that evidence to remind people. Howard was the cause of every big passing play in the game. His ability to play the ball has seemed to regress badly. I pray that he pulls it together fast.

I can't figure for the world why our CBs never turn around when defending passes. It's bad coaching; he won't do that in NFL camp nor the league [practice squad or roster], eventually.

Watch him routinely beat people up one on one and come on here and see guys say he doesn't make plays. In this d, I swear he won't have productive stars but chad does his thing when in. Aqm also is beating on on one blocks. Nebraska was holding those two and McCord all game
