Tom Herman (merged with Herman head coach candidate threads)

I would not mind if Herman came here. Texas isn't for everyone. An hopefully he has learned from having a big job and will take those experiences with at his next job. An I think he could recruit some great players here.
It's a canned saying many places but it's especially true here

Tom Herman.

I’m not sure why people keep pumping this guy up.

Can we stop hiring dudes that failed at other schools, especially a prominent program like Texas?

Listen, years ago I thought Herman was going to be a Texas coaching legend, but that never materialized.

This university needs to stop taking chances. For once, pony up the money to hire a big-name coach with a proven track record. Sell them on leading a team playing in the easiest division in Power 5 CFB

It can be done. Our fans are too used to settling for mediocrity.

What do you consider proven?

80% of threads on page 1 are related to replacing a HC who hasn't been fired yet.

Mods: gain control of this situation or I'll take my business to TOS
I had to get that off my chest. If we hire Herman, we’ll be right back here doing the same thing in 3-4 years.

Not trying to argue and I am not really a Herman fan but...what do you consider failed?

There are coaches who have won championships that are out of work right now...what do you have to do to not be a failed coach? I am willing to bet someone would call each guy you listed as failed too. Not that they are but these coaches are much more than their records.

Herman's Texas tenure isn't proof of failure. Mack Brown backed into a championship at Texas and how did his tenure end? Would you want him now?

Oh, and that's the only championship they've enjoyed since 1970.

It’s simple: I don’t want to hire a coach who was fired at their previous stop. He was fired for a reason — not developing his talent and continuing to lose to middle of the road Big 12 teams.

Sound familiar? Give me someone who does more with less, not the other way around.

If a guy — at that university with all that talent — is having issues beating teams like Texas Tech, then what makes us think he wouldn’t come here and struggle against Pitt.
